COLUMBUS — Ohio State routinely recruits, lands commitments and signs some of the best players in the country.

The 2024 cycle has not been an exception for head coach Ryan Day and his staff. The Buckeyes have 18 verbal commitments in their 2024 class with more certainly on the way this summer. While some of the commits are going to be development projects for the staff, there is a handful that boasts impressive skill sets right now.

On3 updated its 2024 rankings Monday afternoon where several Ohio State commits land inside the On300. Lettermen Row breaks down the rankings update and where the Buckeyes’ commits land.

Let’s take a look.

Jeremiah Smith

  • Status: Five-star
  • New Ranking: No. 2 overall, previously No. 3

Five-star Hollywood (Fla) Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is inching toward that No. 1 overall prospect spot. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound wideout moved up one spot to No. 2 and is Ohio State’s highest-rated commit in the class.

Justin Scott

  • Status: Five-star
  • New Ranking: No. 5 overall, previously No. 8

Five-star Chicago (Ill) St. Ignatius defensive lineman Justin Scott is the highest-rated defensive prospect in the Buckeyes’ 2024 class. Scott, who committed on July 2, was a major boost for Ohio State with defensive recruiting and momentum on the trail. He also checks in as the No. 2 defensive lineman in the country.

Mylan Graham

  • Status: New five-star, previously On3 Industry Ranked five-star
  • New Ranking: No new position

Five-star New Haven (Ind) wide receiver Mylan Graham earned his fifth star by On3 on Monday. Once again, Brian Hartline and his eye for talent have earned the Buckeyes an impressive haul at the position. Graham is poised for a major senior season this fall.

Air Noland

  • Status: Four-star
  • New Ranking: No. 43 overall, previously No. 42

Four-star Fairburn (Ga) Langston Hughes quarterback Air Noland didn’t see a significant movement in the rankings one way or the other. He slid down one spot but still remains the No. 4 quarterback in the country.

Bryce West

  • Status: Four-star
  • New Ranking: No. 62 overall, previously No. 52

Four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville cornerback Bryce West, despite an impressive performance during the Elite 11, fell 10 spots in the rankings update. West is one of the best lockdown cornerbacks in the country and proved that last fall.

Jordan Lyle

  • Status: Four-star
  • New Ranking: No. 69 overall, previously No. 62

No significant movement for four-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla) St. Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan Lyle. The 6-foot, 190-pound running back committed to Ohio State on April 29 and sealed an impressive haul by Tony Alford.

James Peoples

  • Status: Four-star
  • New Ranking: No. 133 overall, previously No. 110

Four-star San Antonio (Texas) Veterans Memorial running back James Peoples slid down 23 spots in the latest rankings update. Not a terrible movement, but not the direction the No. 1 running back in the Buckeyes’ class should go.

Jaylen McClain

  • Status: Four-star
  • New Ranking: No. 158 overall, previously No. 108

This is the biggest drop for an Ohio State commit so far. Four-star West Orange (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep safety Jaylen McClain slides back 50 spots and also went from the No. 7 safety to the No. 12 safety.

Garrett Stover

  • Status: Four-star
  • New Ranking: No. 172 overall, previously No. 153

Four-star Sunbury (Ohio) Big Walnut linebacker Garrett Stover drops 19 spots in the rankings update but still stays within the top 200. He’s put on considerable weight this offseason and looks more and more like a linebacker every time we see him.

Dropped Out

Ohio State had three commits fall out of the top 300.

Offensive tackle Ian Moore, offensive tackle Deontae Armstrong and IOL Devontae Armstrong all were removed from the top 300.

Ian Moore has an On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 130 overall prospect. The Armstrongs are Nos. 311 and No. 347, respectively.
