COLUMBUS — Ohio State is preparing for its own season to start as it’s going through its yearly preseason training camp.

The same goes for the Buckeyes’ commits, who were already entrenched with preseason activities before their future program started.

Lettermen Row is going to look at one important game for all 20 prospects in the 2024 class and for 2025 quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair, and 2026 wide receiver commit Chris Henry Jr.

We look at the newest Ohio State commit, four-star St. Louis (Mo) Christian Brothers College wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan.

Tackling Tennessee

McClellan is a member of the reigning Missouri State Champions football program at Christian Brothers, so every week of his senior season he is going to get every program’s best shot.

While the in-state programs will certainly have extra motivation to beat the Cadets, what about a program not from Missouri? What about, say, Tennessee?

That’s exactly what McClellan will get on Sept. 29 with he and the Cadets travel to Nashville, Tennesee, for a major match-up against Lipscomb Academy. The Week 7 contest certainly will test both programs in the midst of their respective seasons. Lipscomb is led defensively by four-star linebacker and Tennessee commit Edwin Spillman. The future Volunteers linebacker had a final two that consisted of Tennessee and Ohio State, but ultimately opted to stay home.

Spillman and McClellan made their official visit to Ohio State on the same week — June 9-11.

This isn’t the storyline of “they OVd together but chose different paths.” Rather, it’s the storyline of two very impressive programs meeting up in an unlikely scheduling moment and there happens to be some commonality between the two best players on the field.

McClellan committed to Ohio State on Aug. 13 and chose the Buckeyes over Missouri, Oregon, LSU and Georgia.
