COLUMBUS — Ohio State is preparing for its own season to start as it’s going through its yearly preseason training camp.

The same goes for the Buckeyes’ commits, who were already entrenched with preseason activities before their future program started.

Lettermen Row is going to look at one important game for all 20 prospects in the 2024 class and for 2025 quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair, and 2026 wide receiver commit Chris Henry Jr.

We look at the two tight ends in the Buckeyes 2024 class with four-star Chattanooga (Tenn) Baylor School commit Max LeBlanc and four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville commit Damarion Witten.

Heading to Jersey

Max LeBlanc and Baylor School don’t play a national schedule, but there is an out-of-state opponent that will draw attention to Buckeye Nation.

On Aug. 25 the Red Raiders head to West Orange, New Jersey for a week two tilt against Seton Hall Prep. Why the significance? Because four-star Ohio State safety commit Jaylen McClain plays for Seton Hall Prep and more likely than not will have direct responsibilities in coverage over LeBlanc.

LeBlanc, the No. 18 tight end and No. 284 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, had a stellar junior season in 2022. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end had 695 yards and three touchdown receptions on 39 total catches.

A test against the best

Last fall Damarion Witten was a major weapon in one of the most historic Glenville teams the program has ever had.

The Tarblooders finally got over the hump and won the program’s first state championship and did so with an undefeated record. Witten, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound tight end, consistently was one of the most relied threats in Glenville’s passing game and was serviceable as a run blocker.

But on Sept. 15, Witten is going to have to be at his best when Glenville travels to Bradenton, Florida, for a game against the prestigious IMG Academy. He will be tested by a number of defensive prospects including Jordon Johnson-Rubell, Ellis Robinson IV and Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng.
