Top priority tight end Nate Roberts commits to Ohio State
COLUMBUS — Ohio State continues its impressive recruiting run on the 2025 trail.
Four-star Washington (Okla) tight end Nate Roberts has committed to the Buckeyes. The 6-foot-3.5, 220-pound talent committed to Ohio State over Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State and Ole Miss. He is the No. 139 overall prospect and the No. 7 tight end according to On3. The numbers in the On3 Industry Rankings aren’t much different with Roberts at the No. 144 overall prospect and the No. 6 tight end.
Roberts is the first tight end committed to the Buckeyes’ top-ranked 2025 class and he is the fourth offensive prospect in the class.
His commitment to Ohio State felt inevitable. Roberts has shared that no one has recruited him harder than the Buckeyes tight ends coach Keenan Bailey. The relentless pursuit from the Buckeyes’ second-year tight ends coach forged a deep relationship between the two.
“I’ve always had an interest in them from the first time meeting Keenan Bailey,” Roberts told On3. “A main reason I have so much interest in them is because of how often I’m in contact with them. Talking to Keenan Bailey every day and seeing him at my high school every opportunity that he can show me a lot.”
Roberts recently visited Ohio State as well and it was that visit that finalized his recruitment.
“The feeling that I did have of leaving Ohio State this weekend was that I was already looking forward to getting back,” Roberts told Lettermen Row. “It was tough leaving. I feel like I’ve built such a good relationship with people here and I feel like Ohio State can be my second home.”
Ohio State’s usage of tight ends especially in the 2023 season was a big reason as well why Roberts felt ready to commit to the Buckeyes. He saw firsthand last fall what a weapon Cade Stover became for Ohio State and that it was a result of the development of Keenan Bailey.

“The past with tight end production and how they continue to use tight ends also stands out about Ohio State. Then I love the culture and the brotherhood there too. The players have a great mentality and it is a place I like each time I visit.”
Roberts is one tight end in the class. Ohio State is going after another one to join him. But he’s not the only offensive prospect committed to the Buckeyes. Five-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair, four-star Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer offensive tackle Carter Lowe and wide receiver De’Zie Jones, round out the class for Ohio State.
The Buckeyes have assembled a master class defensively.
Five-star Plus+ cornerback duo Na’eem Offord and Devin Sanchez, four-star cornerback Blake Woodby and four-star safety DeShawn Stewart make up the secondary.
Linebackers TJ Alford and Eli Lee, and edge rushers Zahir Mathis and London Merritt make up the front seven.
