Ohio State makes top five for elite EDGE Dylan Stewart
COLUMBUS — Ohio State is still in the running for one of the country’s best players.
Five-star Washington D.C. Friendship Collegiate Academy EDGE Dylan Stewart announced his top five Friday afternoon and the Buckeyes made the cut.
Georgia, Maryland, Miami and South Carolina round out the mix.
Stewart is the No. 1 overall prospect and No. 1 EDGE in the 2024 cycle according to On3. Those numbers slide to No. 7 overall and No. 2 EDGE in the On3 Industry Rankings.
While most programs are recruiting Stewart as a traditional, hand-in-the-turf defensive end. Ohio State, however, is recruiting Stewart for the JACK position in defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ 4-2-5 system. The 6-foot-5.5, 240-pound edge rusher made his official visit to Ohio State last weekend (June 16-18) and multiple Lettermen Row sources have said that Stewart and his family loved the visit.
The Buckeyes’ recruitment change from defensive end to JACK has been the driving force behind Stewart’s love for Ohio State. His ability to rush the passer from a standing stance and potential to drop back in coverage is something he believes in.
Stewart was at Ohio State earlier this year for a multiday visit in March. He spent plenty of time with defensive line coach Larry Johnson, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and head coach Ryan Day.

After that visit, he gushed about Ohio State to On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.
“It was eye-opening for me,” Stewart told On3. “The opportunities for me on and off the field at Ohio State are great. Ohio State is a huge brand. It is one of the biggest brands in college football and Ohio State could do a lot for me. I really like what the program is, what it is about and it is not going anywhere.
“Ohio State is a great place. Seeing practice, spending more time with the coaches, seeing how I could fit in there. This visit helped Ohio State for sure. I liked it a lot, my parents liked it a lot and Ohio State is definitely getting and official visit for me. It was a different feeling up there for me.”
Stewart heads to South Carolina this weekend for his fourth official visit of the month. He has been to Georgia and Miami as well this summer.
