COLUMBUS — Six weeks ago, Ohio State was reeling, and some substantial improvements needed to be made if the Buckeyes were going to get back into the upper echelon of the Big Ten title chase let alone the College Football Playoff race.

Fast forward to today, and those improvements and changes have been shining through in a major way. The Buckeyes boast the most dangerous offense in college football. Their defense has made a 180-degree turnaround and looks like a different unit than the one that took the field against Minnesota and Oregon.

“I just think it’s a different team [now],” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said following the Buckeyes blowout win over Indiana.

The Buckeyes have gotten themselves back squarely in the College Football Playoff picture, and they once again are the class of the Big Ten.

National media members have taken notice of that turnaround, and that includes ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit. The former Ohio State quarterback joined Lettermen Row’s Tim May on the latest episode of the Tim May Podcast to to evaluate the Buckeyes chances of reaching their third consecutive College Football Playoff.

Herbstreit takes a look around the country at the other top-tier teams jockeying for position in the playoff hunt. He also discusses a Buckeyes offense that is led by Heisman Trophy candidates C.J. Stroud and TreVeyon Henderson and the best receivers unit in the sport, and he talks about the changes to the defensive structure and personnel.
