Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.Â
Urban Meyer talks about future
Urban Meyer was asked Monday about his health on Monday, and he dealt with it by repeatedly saying “good,” with a wry smile after each such answer.
Q. I get this question all the time. How are you doing?
COACH MEYER: Good.
Q. What are your plans?
COACH MEYER: Good.
Q. And Saturday, you know, the TV cameras seemed to be on you as much as it was the action on the field.
COACH MEYER: Good.
Q. And just what are your plans — (laughter)?
COACH MEYER: Good.
Q. — post whatever?
COACH MEYER: Good.
Q. You’re good. That’s a definitive statement.
COACH MEYER: Good.
But at the end of the press conference, a reporter got in a question that elicited a more genuine answer out of Meyer. When asked about his plans for next season, Meyer said “I plan to coach.” It’s obviously impossible to know what the future holds for Meyer and his health. But his simple, direct answer also came with an honest tone. As long as Meyer feels good enough to coach, that answer had to be an encouraging sign for Buckeyes fans.

Ohio State impresses 5-star
The Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian to Ohio State pipeline that started with Shaun Wade could be building toward adding another key piece. Crusaders 5-star cornerback Fred Davis II, the country’s third-ranked cornerback in the Class of 2020, made his first visit to Ohio State over the weekend and left raving about the Buckeyes.
“It was great,†Davis, Florida’s highest-ranked 2020 player, told Lettermen Row. “The atmosphere was crazy. Ohio State coaches and fans showed me so much love. It was just crazy.â€
]“It was really important to get up and see Ohio State. My former teammates and I don’t really don’t talk about schools like that with each other, though, we just are enjoying this process and it’s a blessing. It’s definitely a place I see myself. I want to be around the best and nothing other than the best.â€

Tom Brady laments loss to Ohio State
Watching Michigan lose to Ohio State again was surely bad enough for Tom Brady, but having Nate Ebner as a teammate for the entirety of the Buckeyes’ current seven-game win streak has only made things worse.
“Unfortunately, I lost a bet to Nate Ebner and already paid him his money,” Brady said Monday. “I have to wear some ridiculous outfit, but man, freakin’ Wolverines. They can’t win a big game, man. That was pretty crappy to watch.â€
“We’ve lost to them so much, I feel like I never win any of these bets. That’s all right. I’ll keep trying. It should be [the only game that matters]. Yeah, that is the big one. They haven’t been close. Maybe last year we were a little closer, but still 60-something points, that was tough to swallow.”
OSU hoops No. 1?
The NCAA debuted the metric it will use to replace RPI in NCAA Tournament resumes, and the No. 1 team in the first rankings is… Ohio State. This of course comes via an extremely small sample size, but it should be encouraging nonetheless that the Buckeyes are checking off a lot of boxes at the start of the season.
