Ohio State lands top 2027 quarterback target Brady Edmunds
COLUMBUS — Ohio State and head coach Ryan Day have landed another highly-ranked quarterback prospect. Day has made Columbus a destination for the top signal-callers in the country and the Buckeyes have added another one to the room.
2027 Four-star Huntington Beach (Calif.) quarterback Brady Edmunds has committed to Ohio State. Edmunds chose the Buckeyes over Michigan, Penn State, Texas and several Power Four programs.
Edmunds was born and raised in California but he grew up rooting for the Buckeyes. His grandfather is from Northeast Ohio and attended Ohio State. He has cheered for Ohio State his whole life and passed that same passion down to his 6-foot-5, 205-pound grandson.
Ohio State offered Edmunds, the No. 17 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback in the On3 Industry Rankings, in June and it was a moment that he’ll never forget.
“I mean, at first, I was honestly speechless,” Edmunds told Lettermen Row. “And then Coach Day and I got to talking and he said this offer is gonna be life changing. It is going to paint a big target on my back, I’m gonna be hearing overrated chants after my first incompletion next season. I gotta prove the doubters wrong and people that believe in me right.”

On3 ranks Edmunds as the No. 16 overall prospect, No. 2 quarterback prospect and No. 1 prospect in California in the 2027 class.
Edmunds threw for 3,222 yards and 32 touchdowns in 12 games as sophomore while completing 62% of his passes. He also rushed for 312 yards and 9 touchdowns on 98 carries this season.
Additionally, Edmunds broke the Huntington Beach school record for passing yards and touchdowns in a season as a sophomore. He also holds the school record for career passing yards and passing touchdowns, even though he has two seasons left.
Edmunds is the second commitment for Ohio State in the 2027 class. He joins four-star Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne wide receiver Jamier Brown in the Buckeyes class.
