BuckIQ: Noah Potter ready-made to continue Ohio State Rushmen tradition

COLUMBUS — Just a couple camp visits were enough to give Noah Potter a chance to work on the techniques that are about to be part of his everyday life at Ohio State.

Imagine, then, what Larry Johnson could do with the young defensive end now that Potter will be around for more than just a few hours at a time.

It’s never been a secret that Potter’s decision to sign with the Buckeyes was motivated by the opportunity to work with one of the most legendary position coaches in college football. And the time to get started on a full-time basis has nearly arrived for Potter now that his signature has officially been delivered to Ohio State, putting him in line to become one of the next protectors of the rich tradition of the Rushmen.

“It’s going to be so helpful,” Potter told Lettermen Row earlier this month. “I’m just excited to get huge in the weight room and to work with Coach Johnson every day.”

The combination of working with strength coach Mickey Marotti to improve physically and Johnson when it comes to the technical and mental aspects of playing defensive end is a proven winner. And Potter knew that all along during his recruitment having grown up in Mentor watching Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa, Sam Hubbard, Tyquan Lewis and Chase Young all develop into dynamic pass-rushing threats.

Potter has the ability to add his name to the list, and it’s clear on film that he already has a good idea of how to use his tool kit. Former Ohio State linebacker Zach Boren was in the Lettermen Row film lab breaking down what Noah Potter will bring to the program, and the potential for him to thrive is clear to see in the latest episode of BuckIQ.
