COLUMBUS — Ohio State has been busy restocking and rebuilding the offensive line room this offseason. The Buckeyes have also been developing a few talented freshmen it appears.

Freshman offensive tackle Deontae Armstrong and interior offensive lineman Devontae Armstrong appear to be taking advantage of postseason practices. The twin offensive linemen from Northeast Ohio lost their black stripe after practice Saturday, a sign that they are now officially a members of the Ohio State football program.

Both Armstrong twins have yet to play an offensive snap or appear games this season for the Buckeyes. Ohio State signed both knowing they would be long-term, developmental prospects but they have plenty of potential.

Deontae was a four-star prospect in the 2024 class. He ranked as the No. 377 overall prospect and No. 25 offense tackle last cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Devontae ranked the No. 465 overall prospect and No. 38 interior offensive linemen in On3 Industry Rankings. He was a three-star prospect in the 2024 class.

Lettermen Row’s Spencer Holbrook included the Armstrong twins in his observations story from the Buckeyes open practice prior to the Tennessee game.

“Another observation was the Armstrong twins, who both looked like they’ve been working to put on weight and bulk up. Next year will be a huge year for both of them. They’re getting started on their development ahead of Year Two with the program.”

All four offensive linemen that Ohio State signed in the 2024 class have now lost their black stripes. Freshman offensive tackle Ian Moore, the Buckeyes highest-ranked offensive line signee last cycle, shed his black stripe in August. While freshman interior offensive lineman Gabe VanSickle lost his black stripe in October prior to the Nebraska game. Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye signed a talented class in 2024.
