Ohio State draws Wisconsin in first round of Big Ten Tournament

The Big Ten regular season over, and the conference tournament begins Wednesday. Ohio State, the No. 13 seed, will kick things off with a 6:30 p.m. game against 12th-seeded Wisconsin. The Badgers won the teams’ first meeting this season back on Feb. 2, 65-60.

If Ohio State were to beat Wisconsin, it would play Iowa Thursday afternoon. The Buckeyes defeated Iowa at home on Jan. 21, 93-77, but then lost to the Hawkeyes on Feb. 16, 92-75. That win over head coach Fran McCaffery’s team snapped what was a five-game skid at the team. The mid-February loss in Carver-Hawkeye Arena, on the other hand, was part of a nine-game Buckeyes losing streak.

Ohio State ended that skid — the program’s longest since 1997-98 — with a win over Illinois on Feb. 26. Then the Buckeyes followed that triumph with a Senior Day upset victory against No. 21 Maryland. But Michigan State handed Ohio State a loss in the teams’ regular season finale, as the Spartans quelled a fierce Buckeyes comeback that pulled them within three points with just under six minutes remaining.

Chris Holtmann’s Ohio State enters the Big Ten Tournament with a 13-18 overall record, including a 5-15 mark in Big Ten competition. The Buckeyes’ only chance at the NCAA Tournament is if they win out and book an auto bid to The Dance. That’s unlikely. But, given how the Buckeyes have been playing lately, a mini run in the conference tourney isn’t out of the question.

Buckeyes women’s hoops blown out in Big Ten Tournament final against Iowa

Ohio State women’s basketball staged the largest comeback in Big Ten Tournament history — a 24-point, come-from-behind win over Indiana — to make the league final.

But the Buckeyes didn’t have another significant comeback in their bag against Iowa. Paced by who else but Caitlin Clark, who notched her 10th career triple-double, the Hawkeyes handled Ohio State, 105-72, Sunday. Clark finished with 30 points, 17 assists and 10 rebounds.

Iowa’s scoring output and margin of victory went down as Big Ten Tournament records. The game was out of reach by halftime, at which point Iowa maintained a 61-24 lead. Taylor Mikesell and Cotie McMahon both eclipsed the 20-point mark for Ohio State, but the Buckeyes were 34.8% on the day. Meanwhile, Iowa shot the ball at a blistering 62.1% clip.

Now, the 25-7 Buckeyes will wait for their NCAA Tournament seeding.

Miss the Ohio State offensive linemen at the NFL Combine? We’ve got you covered.

Ohio State’s on-field NFL Combine activity wrapped up Sunday. Three former Buckeyes offensive linemen participated in the pre-draft showcase’s position drills and athletic testing: center Luke Wypler and offensive tackles Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones.

Jones, unsurprisingly, checked in as the largest player at the Combine. Wypler, notably, registered the third-fasted 20-yard shuttle time of any participating offensive linemen. And Johnson flashed his fluid movement during the drilling portion of the day, continuing to make his case for being the top O-Lineman picked in this year’s draft.
