Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise. Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Buckeyes football, recruiting, basketball and more in Scarlet Sunrise.

Bryce James set to take unofficial visit to Ohio State

Ohio State didn’t land a commitment from Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA superstar and icon LeBron James. But the Buckeyes are already involved with the recruitment of Bronny’s younger brother, Bryce.

Bryce will be taking an unofficial visit to Ohio State this weekend. Lettermen Row sources confirmed Joe Tipton’s report for On3.

Bryce is a four-star guard in the 2025 class. He’s currently the No. 80 overall prospect, No. 25 shooting guard and No. 8 California recruit in his cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

The On3 database lists Bryce at 6-foot-4, 160 pounds. Whereas Bronny can be penciled in as a guard, Bryce is more of a wing.

This year, Bryce transferred high schools within the state of California, switching from Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, Los Angeles — where he played with Bronny last season — to Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks.

Bryce has just one listed offer so far, and that’s from Duquesne. That will change soon enough.

Keep in mind, Bronny took an unofficial visit to Ohio State last year the weekend of the Buckeyes’ football season opener against Notre Dame. Ohio State reportedly made Bronny’s top three at one point. He ultimately committed to and signed with USC, though.

Ohio State football doesn’t budge in AP Poll after off week

Ohio State didn’t play this past week, and it didn’t budge in the AP Poll, either. There was no movement among the top-seven teams in the AP Top 25.

The Buckeyes are still No. 4 after their off week.

Next up, Ohio State hosts Maryland for its Homecoming Weekend. The Terrapins remain unranked, despite being 5-0 for the first time since 2001.

Some are more critical than others.

For instance, is the defense, especially the secondary, going to keep holding off explosives?

Lessons Learned from college football slate during Buckeyes idle week

Even though Ohio State didn’t play during Week 5, its major competition did.

Perhaps most notably, No. 6 Penn State pulled away from Northwestern on the road in the second half, and No. 2 Michigan put its slow starts in the rear view mirror with a dominant win at Nebraska.

Lettermen Row unpacked the lessons learned from a week of non-Buckeyes football, and how those games affect Ohio State going forward.
