Ohio State faced zone defenses against Oakland and Merrimack. Texas A&M gave the Buckeyes fits on the defensive glass. Then again, the Aggies are first nationally in KenPom offensive rebounding percentage. But Ohio State dominated a reeling Western Michigan squad. Perhaps most notably, the Buckeyes converted seven of their first 10 3-point attempts and finished with a season-high 10 makes from beyond the arc.
Holtmann’s squad has been sharing the ball well this season. The Buckeyes are fifth in the Big Ten in assist to turnover ratio (1.38) right now. Bruce Thornton and Roddy Gayle Jr. lead the way with 4.5 and 4.0 assists per game, respectively. That backcourt pairing is also responsible for a combined 30.1 points per game.
