COLUMBUS — Ohio State’s two freshmen and four transfer additions are on campus, and the first year of the Jake Diebler era is getting underway.

It certainly feels like it with the program releasing the jersey numbers for Buckeyes players on the 2024-25 roster. Keep in mind, Ohio State still has one more scholarship spot to fill, and Diebler said Monday that he and his staff are in the process of finding that 13th and final scholarship player.

But here’s the rundown of the 14 players — 12 scholarship, two walk-ons — with jersey numbers right now…

NOTE: * denotes walk-on player

No. 0 — G Juni Mobley
No. 1 — G Meechie Johnson Jr.
No. 2 — G Bruce Thornton
No. 3 — G Taison Chatman
No. 4 — C Aaron Bradshaw
No. 8 — G/F Micah Parrish
No. 10 — G Colby Baumann*
No. 12 — G/F Evan Mahaffey
No. 13 — F Sean Stewart
No. 14 — G Braylen Nash*
No. 20 — G/F Colin White
No. 21 — F Devin Royal
No. 24 — F Kalen Etzler
No. 25 — C Austin Parks

Jersey number takeaways…

+ Another year, another new No. 0: Johnson wore the number in 2021-22, Tanner Holden wore it in 2022-23 and Scotty Middleton wore it in 2023-24. Next up? Freshman guard Juni Mobley.

+ Fifth-year guard Meechie Johnson Jr. will replace Roddy Gayle Jr. in the Buckeyes’ backcourt, and he’ll do so while wearing Gayle’s old No. 1 Ohio State jersey. Johnson previously wore No. 5 at South Carolina and No. 0 during his first stint with the Buckeyes.

+ Aaron Bradshaw wore No. 2 at Camden High School, where became the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 4 overall prospect in the 2023 class. Then he wore No. 2 at Kentucky. That number isn’t available at Ohio State right now because it’s worn by point guard Bruce Thornton, a two-time captain and Ohio State’s leading scorer last year. So Bradshaw is wearing No. 4.

+ After wearing No. 3 at both Oakland and San Diego State, fifth-year transfer wing Micah Parrish is wearing No. 8 at Ohio State.

+ Sean Stewart is staying at No. 13, the number he wore as a freshman at Duke last season. Stewart also wore No. 13 at Montverde Academy, where he cemented himself as the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 17 overall prospect in the 2023 class.

+ While starring at Ottawa-Glandorf and ultimately earning Ohio Mr. Basketball accolades this year, wing Colin White wore No. 22. Ohio State notably retired No. 22 in honor of Jim Jackson back in 2001. White will begin his Buckeyes career wearing No. 20.
