Kyle Young to join new-look Carmen’s Crew TBT squad
Carmen’s Crew, Ohio State men’s basketball’s unofficial alumni team that participates in The Basketball Tournament (TBT), is back with a new look. Part of that new look will include former Buckeyes forward Kyle Young, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Young was a five-year letter winner for the program from 2018-22. He played under current Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann, who is going into his seventh year at the helm for 2023-24.
Originally known as “Scarlet & Gray,” Carmen’s Crew won TBT and the $2 million, winner-take-all prize in 2019. Back then, the team was led by players from the Thad Matta era, including the likes of Aaron Craft, David Lighty and Jon Diebler.
After a year off, Carmen’s Crew, coached by former Ohio State star Jared Sullinger, has returned. This time around, Young is one of five Holtmann-era players on the roster, per the Dispatch.
He’ll join C.J. Jackson, Keyshawn Woods, Andre Wesson and Kaleb Wesson, all of whom played for the Buckeyes at some point between 2017 and 2020.
Trevor Thompson played for Ohio State in 2016-17 and is expected to be part of this year’s team as well. As is William Buford, the tournament’s MVP in 2019.
TBT, which begins in late July, is slated to reveal this year’s brackets next Wednesday. Carmen’s Crew will be in the Dayton region.
Takeaways from fourth Ohio State recruiting camp
Ohio State hosted its fourth recruiting camp of the summer Thursday.
Quarterbacks and running backs headlined the day. The Buckeyes have offered three 2025 quarterbacks, and two of them were on campus, in addition to a fast-rising 2026 signal caller. They worked with Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis and head coach Ryan Day.
