Buckeyes return to No. 2 in 2024 recruiting rankings

Ohio State is back to being second nationally in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Buckeyes hopped Florida with the commitment of four-star, in-state cornerback Bryce West Saturday and then solidified that jump with the commitment of West’s Glenville High School teammate — four-star, in-state tight end Damarion Witten — that night.

As of Saturday night, Ohio State is not only second in the country in recruiting class score (93.42), but the Buckeyes are also second in average rating (92.00).

Here’s how the top five of those two metrics compare…

RECRUITING CLASS SCORE

  1. Georgia (94.74)
  2. Ohio State (93.42)
  3. Florida (93.12)
  4. Alabama (92.35)
  5. Michigan (91.93)

  2. Ohio State (92.00)

Ohio State’s 2024 class is currently tied for first in five-star total (two commits) and tied for first in four-star total (12 commits).

The Buckeyes have 16 total commits so far: 12 on offense and four on defense. Two of their last two commits have come on the defensive side of the ball: West and four-star West Orange (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep safety Jaylen McClain.

Ohio State finished last recruiting cycle fourth nationally, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Buckeyes have had a top-five recruiting class every year since Ryan Day took over as full-time head coach in 2019.

Massive priority cornerback target Bryce West commits to Ohio State

A day after kicking off his official visit at Ohio State, four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville corner Bryce West publicly announced his commitment to the Buckeyes.

He picked Ohio State over a mix of 30-plus schools, including Michigan, Oregon, USC and Oklahoma. West is the No. 56 overall prospect, the No. 6 cornerback and the No. 2 Ohio recruit this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
