COLUMBUS — Ohio State is outside the top five for the first time since September. Coming off a 30-24 loss to Michigan — the program’s third straight in the series — the Buckeyes fell from No. 2 to No. 6 in the Week 14 AP Top 25.

Here’s what the top five looks like heading into Championship Weekend: No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Washington, No. 4 Florida State and No. 5 Oregon.

Georgia leads the way with 52 first-place votes. Then comes Michigan. No other team is receiving first-place votes right now. That, of course, includes Ohio State, which now has slim chances to make the College Football Playoff.

The Buckeyes haven’t defeated Michigan since 2019, and they haven’t played in the Big Ten Championship since 2020.

They sit at 11-1 with a pair of top-10 wins this season. Ohio State squeaked out a 17-14 win over then-No. 9 Notre Dame and defeated then-No. 7 Penn State, 20-12. As was the case last year, the Buckeyes rolled into The Game with an undefeated record before being denied a Big Ten East title by its biggest rival.
