COLUMBUS — Ohio State dropped in the AP Top 25 poll for the second week in a row, this time after another Championship Weekend where the Buckeyes were left at home.
Head coach Ryan Day’s team slid from No. 6 to No. 7 after a chaotic Saturday that, most notably, saw back-to-back national champion Georgia lose its 29-game win streak to Alabama.
With that SEC title blemish, the Bulldogs plummeted from No. 1 to No. 6. The Crimson Tide, meanwhile, are No. 5 in this week’s AP Poll.
So here’s the top four: No. 1 Michigan, No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Texas and No. 4 Florida State. Michigan leads the way with 51 first-place votes after shutting out Iowa, 26-0, in the Big Ten Championship. Then comes Washington with 11 first-place votes following its season sweep of Oregon.
Remember, though, the College Football Playoff committee has final say on which four teams make the playoff. Those announcements come out at 12:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
