COLUMBUS — All eyes are on the College Football Playoff Selection Show Sunday at noon. That’s what determines the four-team field in this year’s playoff.

But the AP Poll came out before that, and it featured movement in the top five — namely, Ohio State climbing to No. 4 — after a chaotic Conference Championship Weekend that saw two top-five teams fall.

USC dropped its second game of the season to Utah in the Pac-12 Championship Friday night. The Trojans staked themselves to a 17-3 lead, but a failed 4th-and-8 conversion in Utah territory turned the tide. The Utes slowed the high-powered USC offense, in part because of a hamstring injury that limited Heisman Trophy favorite Caleb Williams in the second half, and rolled to a 47-24 win.

TCU’s unbeaten streak came to an end in the Big 12 Championship, as Kansas State avenged its loss to the Horned Frogs from earlier this season. Similar to Williams, TCU quarterback Max Duggan turned in a valiant performance despite a losing effort. After forcing overtime with a heroic game-tying drive, Duggan and the Horned Frogs came up short at the goal line, and Kansas State went on to kick the game-winning field goal, 31-28.

USC dropped to No. 8 in Sunday’s AP Poll, but TCU remained at No. 3. Meanwhile, Ohio State — which didn’t play in the Big Ten Championship because of its loss to No. 2 Michigan in the regular season finale — went from No. 5 to No. 4. And Alabama moved up from No. 6 to No. 5.
