COLUMBUS — Ohio State has jumped Michigan just before Rivalry Week. After being stuck at No. 3 in the AP Top 25 each of the last six weeks, the Buckeyes switched places with Michigan Sunday.
So, with The Game now six days away, Ohio State is No. 2, and Michigan is No. 3.
The Buckeyes are coming off back-to-back blowout wins: a 38-3 victory over Michigan State and a 37-3 beatdown of Minnesota. Michigan, meanwhile, escaped Maryland with a 31-24 win this weekend.
Georgia, following its dominant win over now-No. 25 Tennessee, gobbled up all but one of the first-place votes. Ohio State claimed the other, meaning that Michigan received zero first-place votes.
Here’s the top four entering Week 13: No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Washington. Florida State, which lost starting quarterback Jordan Travis to injury during its decisive victory over North Alabama this weekend, slid to No. 5.
All eyes, not just in Columbus and Ann Arbor, now turn to Ohio State-Michigan. It’s a top-three showdown in The Big House, and it’s a bout between two 11-0 teams, just like last year. Winner gets the Big Ten East title and, likely, a trip to the College Football Playoff.
