COLUMBUS — Eight former Ohio State players have been invited to this year’s NFL Combine: quarterback C.J. Stroud, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, offensive tackles Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones, center Luke Wypler, defensive end Zach Harrison, cornerback Cam Brown and safety Ronnie Hickman.

Ohio State is one of eight schools with at least eight invitees to the pre-draft showcase this year. Alabama has a nation-leading 13 prospects invited, and back-to-back national champion Georgia isn’t far behind with 12 invitees. Next in line are Florida, LSU, Michigan and TCU — they each have nine former players invited. Clemson, like Ohio State, has eight invitees.

In total, there are 319 prospects who received invitations to this year’s NFL Combine, which will take place from Feb. 28 to March 6 in Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts.

Here’s the schedule:

  • Thursday, March 2, 3 p.m. – Defensive Linemen and Linebackers
  • Friday, March 3, 3 p.m. – Defensive Backs
  • Saturday, March 4, 1 p.m. – Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers, Tight Ends.
  • Sunday, March 5, 1 p.m. – Running Backs, Offensive Linemen.

That means Harrison will be the first former Buckeyes player to get to display his measurables and on-field talent. Most notably, Stroud and Smith-Njigba will get their chance in the spotlight on March 4 when the quarterbacks and wide receivers are set to perform. Then Ohio State’s three departing offensive linemen will round out the event on March 5.

Notable former Buckeyes players who didn’t get invited to this year’s NFL Combine but are pursuing careers at the next level include defensive tackles Taron Vincent and Jerron Cage, safety Tanner McCalister and place kicker Noah Ruggles.

Vincent, Cage and Brown were part of East-West Shrine Bowl week, and Jones and Hickman were part of Reese’s Senior Bowl week.

All Ohio State prospects will get a chance to participate in the program’s Pro Day in March.
