Kyle McCord, Marvin Harrison Jr. both top 15 in latest Heisman Trophy odds list
Ohio State finished spring ball without naming a starting quarterback. The two-way race between junior Kyle McCord and redshirt freshman Devin Brown is still ongoing.
But that hasn’t deterred Vegas from continuing to include McCord for Heisman Trophy consideration. In fact, both McCord and his high school teammate, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., are top 15 in FanDuel’s latest Heisman odds list.
McCord is tied for eighth at +2000, and Harrison is tied for 14th with Michigan running back Blake Corum and quarterback J.J. McCarthy at +3000.
Corum and Harrison are the only two non-quarterbacks in the top 15 of FanDuel’s Heisman odds list.
Here’s a rundown of the top 10:
- USC QB Caleb Williams (+500)
- Oregon QB Bo Nix (+1200)
- Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. (+1200)
- Florida State QB Jordan Travis (+1200)
- LSU QB Jayden Daniels (+1500)
- Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman (+1500)
- UNC QB Drake Maye (+1500)
- Georgia QB Carson Beck (+2000)
- Texas QB Quinn Ewers (+2000)
- Ohio State QB Kyle McCord (+2000)
It makes sense why an Ohio State quarterback is being included in these odds at this point of the offseason, even if a starter hasn’t been named. The last three Buckeyes starting signal callers have turned into Heisman finalists. And, given that McCord was C.J. Stroud’s backup the last two seasons, it’s understandable why he’s getting the nod in Vegas.
As for Harrison? Well, he’s just that good. He was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award last year and is already being projected as a top-three pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Vegas currently likes USC quarterback Caleb Williams to repeat as the Heisman winner.
The three toughest defenses for the Ohio State offense in 2023
Ohio State and high-flying offense are synonymous, especially since Ryan Day arrived on the scene in 2017. The Buckeyes have averaged 40 or more points per game each of the last six seasons, after all.
But if they’re going to keep that streak alive in 2023, they’ll need to do so with a new quarterback and three new offensive linemen.

Former Ohio State forward Seth Towns commits to Howard
Former Ohio State forward Seth Towns announced his third and final destination of his college basketball and academic career: Howard.
Because of a slew of injuries, first to his knee and then to his back, Towns has played only one season since 2018. Medical redshirts and the COVID-19 waiver have preserved his eligibility, despite the fact that he is 25 years old and started his college career at Harvard in 2016.
Towns spent two years at Ohio State, where he earned another degree and was part of the Buckeyes’ rotation during the 2020-21 season.
