2024 long snapper Morrow Evans commits to Buckeyes
COLUMBUS — The 2024 Ohio State recruiting class is critical. It’s a group that could wind up reaching or even eclipsing the 25-commit mark and is expected to soften the blow from a potential exodus of talent this offseason.
The Buckeyes’ latest pledge won’t factor into the recruiting rankings, given that he’s committed as a preferred walk-on, but his importance can’t be understated.
After all, his position was the subject of discussion at a momentous point during the 2022 season.
2024 Houston (Texas) Episcopal long snapper Morrow Evans — the No. 2 long snapper in the country, according to Rubio Long Snapping — chose Ohio State over Ole Miss and Texas A&M Saturday.
Evans was recruited by Ohio State special teams coordinator Parker Fleming, along with special teams assistant Gunner Daniel, a long snapping alum of Wagner and Boston College.
“This game means so much to me and to do what I love at the next level is a blessing,” Evans wrote in a commitment announcement on social media. “With that said, I am 100% committed to the THE Ohio State University! Go Buckeyes!”
Evans, an Adidas All-American, took multiple visits to Ohio State, the latest being a trip to Columbus for the Buckeyes’ SummerFest recruiting event at Ohio Stadium.
He also impressed at Ohio State recruiting camp in June. His snapping motion is smooth and consistent. With quick hands and nice ball speed, Evans is the second-highest rated long snapper in his class for a reason.

Evans has a tie to a current Buckeyes starter: He played on field goal unit at Episcopal with Ohio State left guard Donovan Jackson, who was the No. 1 interior offensive lineman prospect in the 2021 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Ohio State brought in former Arizona State long snapper John Ferlmann this past cycle. Ferlmann appeared in 12 games for the Sun Devils last season.
He was the No. 7 long snapper in the 2021 class, according to Rubio Long Snapping. Ferlmann has excelled since transferring to Ohio State and is expected to take the reins this season, replacing longtime Buckeyes long snapper Bradley Robinson. Robinson suffered a season-ending injury against Iowa in 2022, and Mason Arnold filled in the rest of the way. Except, his brief run at the position wasn’t without controversy.
Since, Arnold transferred to Michigan State, and Ohio State added Ferlmann.
Ferlmann will likely have the job in 2023. His successor, though, could be Evans, who made his commitment to the Buckeyes Saturday.
