COLUMBUS — Ohio State is traveling to Evanston, Illinois, for the first time since 2019 this weekend. The No. 2 Buckeyes (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) will face a reeling Northwestern (1-7, 1-4) team.

The Wildcats kicked off the college football season in Dublin, Ireland, with a head-turning victory over Nebraska. But, in hindsight, that game said more about Nebraska, which fired then-head coach Scott Frost in September, than it did about Northwestern.

The Wildcats turned from junior South Carolina transfer Ryan Hilinski to sophomore Brendan Sullivan under center, but it hasn’t made a difference in the win/loss column yet for an offense that’s averaging a mere 17.9 points per game.

Things could get ugly in Evanston. Not only because Ohio State could put up a 50-burger, but also because there’s rain in the forecast.

Lettermen Row has the viewing and listening information in one piece ahead of kickoff.

Ohio State at Northwestern: Game time, details

Ohio State leads the all-time series, 64-14-1. The Buckeyes have won nine in a row against the Wildcats. The last time Northwestern beat the Buckeyes was 2004, two years before Pat Fitzgerald began his tenure as the Wildcats’ head coach. These teams haven’t squared off since the 2020 Big Ten Championship, during which the Buckeyes locked up the conference with a 22-10 victory over, at the time, a No. 14 Northwestern team that rose to as high as No. 8 in the COVID-19-affected season.

Series fun fact

Before Northwestern’s triumph in 2004, you have to go all the way back to 1971 for the last Wildcats win over Ohio State. But, during the Fitzgerald era (2006-present), Northwestern has not scored more than 30 points versus the Buckeyes. In five of those crossover matchups, the Wildcats have recorded 10 or fewer points.
