Zach Harrison records longest arm measurement of any DL at Combine since 2014

Former Ohio State defensive end Zach Harrison recorded an arm measurement of 36 1/4 inches, the longest of any D-Lineman at the NFL Combine since 2014. Back then, Tennessee defensive tackle Daniel McCullers checked in with 36 5/8 inch arms.

Here are Harrison’s complete measurements, according to NFL Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah from NFL Network:

Harrison didn’t even have the longest arms on Ohio State’s roster this past season, though. That title belonged offensive tackle Dawand Jones, who will be working out in Indianapolis later this week. The 6-foot-8, 375-pound Jones set the Reese’s Senior Bowl record with a wingspan of 89.5 inches, which, as Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy pointed out at the time, is equivalent to a normal wingspan of a person who stands 7-foot-5.

Still, Harrison’s length figures to go a long way in improving his draft stock. Harrison, a Buckeyes captain in 2022, led the team in pressures generated with 33, according to Pro Football Focus. He also registered 3.5 sacks, 34 total tackles, 8.0 TFLs, a trio of forced fumbles and an interception.

Harrison did not, however, participate in the 40-yard dash or on-field drills Thursday because he tweaked his hamstring last week, according to the NFL Network broadcast. He plans to work out on March 22 at Ohio State’s Pro Day.

Change in position, scheme at Ohio State made Ronnie Hickman a more versatile prospect

During Ronnie Hickman‘s four years at Ohio State, he had three different defensive coordinators and three different position coaches. Hickman also played different safety positions.

Hickman was the “bullet” in then-defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs system. It was there that Hickman became the first Buckeyes player in six years with 100 or more tackles. Then he became the “adjuster” in now-DC Jim Knowles’ safety-driven 4-2-5 scheme that saw Hickman be “a protector more than anything,” according to former Ohio State cornerback Cameron Brown.

Hickman, originally a dual-sport athlete in high school, prides himself on his versatility, which he believes will serve him well at the next level.

Confident Cameron Brown preparing to sprint into prime draft position at NFL Combine

Former Ohio State cornerback Cameron Brown suffered a pair of season-ending injuries during his Buckeyes career and was sidelined at points of this past season.

Durability and consistent performance are concerns surrounding the 6-foot, 192-pound veteran corner. Brown, himself, however, doesn’t have any worries about his ability. He exuded peak confidence Thursday at the NFL Combine, stating that he wants to run a 4.2 40-yard dash and even calling out archrival Michigan despite losing to the Wolverines twice in his stay at Ohio State.

“I feel like I always have confidence in myself on the inside,” Brown said. “Now I’m a little more public with my confidence. I feel like I can do anything. And I’m not afraid to show it.”
