Ohio State 'team to beat' for St. Louis WR Jameson Williams following official visit
There was no commitment as Ohio State fans might have hoped. But the news is still pretty good for the Buckeyes and 4-star wide receiver Jameson Williams.
“Ohio State is the school to beat right now,” Williams told Lettermen Row on Monday. “They just recruit me harder.”
Of course, the Buckeyes aren’t the only school in the mix for the 6-foot-2, 160-pound Williams. Alabama is lurking, and he visited there just days before heading to Ohio State. Trips to UCLA, Nebraska and Oregon are also on the docket for the country’s 26th-ranked wideout. There’s comfort in Columbus, though, and that’s given the Buckeyes a leg up for one of the country’s fastest football prospects.
“This was my fifth time visiting at Ohio State,” he said. “There was nothing that stood out the most really, because I enjoyed the whole trip. It was different from other visits though because I got a chance to hang around some players and see what the life was about at Ohio State. Like, we went bowling and swimming and stuff like that. I feel like I fit in very well there.”
On Sunday, Williams and the rest of the official visitors in town spent time at Urban Meyer’s house, getting to know the Ohio State coach a little bit better.

“My time at [Urban] Meyer’s was great,” he said. “He’s a really great guy, and we hung around the players and staff there. He’s a guy that I would consider coaching me in college.”
Though he’s incredibly familiar with Ohio State, there was no thought yet of a commitment from Williams. The Buckeyes will have to continue fighting off the Crimson Tide and others for a bit longer.
“I loved it there, the trip was great,” Williams added. “But no, I didn’t think about committing. When the time is right, I’ll announce my decision.”
