Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise! Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Can Ohio State land Jonah Jackson?

A decision is coming soon for Rutgers graduate transfer Jonah Jackson after a weekend visit to Oklahoma.

The Buckeyes hosted the interior lineman a week before signing day and have waited patiently for a choice to be made, knowing full well it could come down to a two-school fight between Ohio State and Oklahoma.

There’s a growing sense that Jackson is leaning toward the Sooners after some real optimism from Columbus for the past few weeks. According to insiders, the connection between Jackson and the Oklahoma staff was a bit stronger, but that’s not to suggest he doesn’t genuinely like what Ohio State has to offer. However, losing him to Oklahoma would deprive the Buckeyes of a plug-and-play option who could help offset the loss of four starters on the offensive line.

Nick Bosa goes No. 1 in Mel Kiper mock

Former Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa was projected as the No. 1 overall draft pick in ESPN analyst Mel Kiper’s mock draft posted on Monday. Here’s what Kiper had to say about Bosa:

No change at the top here — Bosa is the top prospect in this class. He can be an elite pass-rusher at the next level, just like his brother Joey. His workouts at the combine will be closely watched to see if he’s back at full strength after his core muscle injury. As far as the fit in a 3-4 defense in Arizona, this quote last week from new defensive coordinator Vance Joseph stood out: “4-3 college ends, they grow to be outside ‘backers. It’s a learned ability.” Joseph’s former team in Denver used a top-five pick on Bradley Chubb last year, and Joseph converted him to outside linebacker — opposite Von Miller — and he had 12 sacks as a rookie. The 6-foot-4, 263-pound Bosa would have a good edge-rushing partner in Chandler Jones.

Beanie Wells on Master Teague

Ohio State running back Master Teague looks ideally suited to handle rugged, tough runs as he adds more strength to his 5-foot-11, 215-pound frame. There is obviously a limited sample size of carries to break down at this point, but Teague turned his 17 carries as a true freshman into 106 yards with a touchdown, gaining a bit of experience and establishing a foundation for the next step in his career.

How much can Teague give the Buckeyes this season? Former Ohio State and NFL running back Beanie Wells was back in the Lettermen Row film lab for an episode of BuckIQ with the spotlight focusing on Teague to project his future with the program.

Smooth Jazz to Louisiana Tech

Former Ohio State quarterback Kenny Guiton didn’t stay unemployed for long. Louisiana Tech announced Monday that it hired Guiton to coach outside receivers.

“I am excited to bring someone in with the energy, enthusiasm and experience of Kenny Guiton,” Louisiana Tech coach Skip Holtz said. “He is very knowledgeable of the game having been a quarterback and has now coached receivers for a number of years. He understands the offense, so I am excited to have him join the staff and be a part of our program.”

Guiton spent the past two years as a wide receivers coach for Houston, but he wasn’t retained by new coach Dana Holgorsen after the Cougars fired Major Applewhite.

Men’s tennis wins national title

The No. 2-ranked Ohio State men’s tennis team got some sweet revenge, beating No. 1 Wake Forest 4-2 to win the ITA National Indoor Championship. Wake Forest beat the Buckeyes 4-2 in last year’s NCAA championship (which is outdoors).
