Buckeyes wrap up spring, head into pivotal summer

As for the Buckeyes, they’ll take some time after spring practice before entering a pivotal offseason phase: the summer. It’s another chance for impressive weight-room sessions and workouts in preparation for a run at a national title this fall. Another chapter of the offseason is complete with spring football being over. Now the Buckeyes enter summer.

Ohio State lands commitment from four-star cornerback

Florida 2023 cornerback prospect Dijon Johnson has committed to Ohio State.

The four-star defensive back from Wharton (Tampa, Fla.) High School announced his intentions on his social media channels just moments ago. His choice comes on the heels of a two-day visit with the Buckeyes in Columbus.

Dijon Johnson has been one of the country’s hottest recruits in the first few months of 2022. He’s added nearly 20 offers since January 1. Ohio State offered toward the end of January, an offer from one of his long-held “dream schools.”

Seeing that dream come true this weekend was all it took for Johnson know the Buckeyes were the program for him.

He made that trip from Florida on April 15. The impact of the trip was clear on Johnson. He tweeted about his time with the Buckeyes before even reaching the airport following the Ohio State spring game.

Buckeyes earn pledge from talented wide receiver

Bryson Rodgers lives in Florida but he still calls Ohio home. That’s the primary reason why he’s committed to Ohio State.

The Buckeyes landed a verbal commitment from the four-star Florida wideout on Sunday afternoon, ending a recruitment that Ohio State jumped into with both feet in late January. It was the feeling of being “home” that made this an easy decision for the 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver.

Originally from Warren, Ohio, Rodgers made two visits to Ohio State this spring. The first, just about five weeks ago, positioned the Buckeyes as the leader in his recruitment. The second was just more proof that he was heading in the right direction.

Rodgers almost waited to commit. As Brian Hartline was set to depart the Ohio State facility on Saturday afternoon following the Buckeyes spring game, there was no decision yet. The country’s No. 28-ranked receiver didn’t want to leave any doubt. His connection to Hartline had been the driving force in his decision for months and he talked about that in March.
