COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes closed the book on the 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday, which was National Signing Day. Ohio State once again signed a top-five recruiting class under head coach Ryan Day.

The Buckeyes class features 16 On300 prospects and three five-stars. During the evaluation process, On3 gave out NFL comparisons to all of the five-star prospects and a handful of four-stars, showing their talent level and projections for the future based on their skillset, physical traits, and more.

Here’s who On3 has as NFL comparisons for the top players in the Buckeyes class.

Five-star WR Quincy Porter – Drake London

Five-star Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic wide receiver Quincy Porter was the highest-ranked Ohio State signee in the final 2025 On300. Porter was the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in country, according to On3. He has a similar size profile to Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London but potentially more top-end speed, according to On3.

“Quincy Porter’s frame, movement patterns and massive catch radius remind us of Drake London at the same stage. London was a bit heavier as a junior and was also a prolific basketball player, while Porter has shown more speed on the track,” – On3

Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss the projected starters for Ohio State next season, which is an uber-taletned trio of pass catchers. Former top-50 prospect Mylan Graham is also expected to earn playing time as a redshirt freshman. Porter will need time to develop and the Buckeyes can afford to give him that time but the future is still bright for the New Jersey native.

Five-star CB Devin Sanchez – Christian Gonzales

Ohio State signed one of the top cornerback prospects in the country this cycle in Five-star Plus+ Houston (Texas) North Shore cornerback Devin Sanchez. He ranks as the No. 19 overall prospect and No. 3 cornerback in the 2025 class, according to On3. Sanchez is built like New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez was coming out of high school but has perhaps more technical polish at a similar age.

“Devin Sanchez’s high end combination of size, length and top-end speed reminds us of Christian Gonzalez. Both have similar stature, length and athleticism at the same stage. Gonzalez was thicker and played more on offense and special teams, while Sanchez is more polished as a corner at the same stage,” – On3

Ohio Stat is returning two experienced cornerbacks in Davison Igbinosun and Jermaine Matthews next season. The Buckeyes also redshirted top-50 prospects Aaron Scott Jr. and Bryce West this past season. Still Sanchez has the talent to play as a true freshman.

Five-star QB Tavien St. Clair – Blaine Gabbert

Five-star Plus+ Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair fell slightly in the final 2025 On300 but still finished as the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback. On3 gave St. Clair somewhat of an off-the-wall NFL comparison. He does have a few similarities with former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert, however.

“Tavien St. Clair’s physical traits and play style reminds us of Blaine Gabbert at the same stage. Gabbert was a bit bigger at the same stage. Both were big, athletic prospects who excelled in the camp setting. St. Clair was more productive while playing a lower level of competition in high school,” – On3

St. Clair will likely redshirt as a true freshman but he has a bright future with the Buckeyes. Ohio State has never started an Ohio-born quarterback under head coach Ryan Day.

Four-star LB Riley Pettijohn – Channing Tindall

Four-star McKinney (Texas) linebacker Riley Pettijohn finished as the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 3 linebacker in the final On300 for the 2025 class. Pettijohn is not the biggest linebacker prospect but what he lacks in size, he makes up for with athleticism and speed. He resembles current Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Tindall, according to On3.

“Riley Pettijohn’s size, athleticism and skill set reminds of Channing Tindall. Pettijohn is faster at the same stage,” – On3

The 6-foot-1.5, 215-pound Pettijohn was a massive signing for Ohio State linebackers coach James Laurinaitis in his first full recruiting cycle. The Buckeyes return Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese at linebacker but Pettijohn can push for playing time this season.
