Garrett Wilson solidifies first-round status with scorching 40 time

Don’t expect Garrett Wilson to see his draft stock anytime soon. The combine certainly only continued to help him.

Wilson ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash on Thursday night in Indianapolis at the NFL combine, the eighth-fastest time among all wide receivers who ran. Fellow Buckeyes wide receiver Chris Olave ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash on the official timer after the unofficial clocked him at a blazing 4.26-second time.

Both receivers keep boosting their draft stocks during the week of festivities at the combine, acing the media interviews and meeting with teams from across the league. Both could be first-round picks in April. And just after Olave posted an incredible 40-yard dash, Wilson followed it up by besting him by one one-hundredth of a second.

Ohio State hoops beats Michigan State

If Ohio State was written off after the last two games, it might be time to reconsider.

The Buckeyes were battered, beaten and bruised in their two-game losing streak, searching for answers and needing a response Thursday night.

They found those answers and delivered a resounding response. The issues that plagued them were gone. Problems on both ends of the floor erased by a brilliant home performance in a 80-69 win over Michigan State inside the Schottenstein Center.

After being questioned about how they could turn around their losing ways of the last two games by everyone, including those on the inside, the Buckeyes made sure to capitalize on a fast start, jumping out to a double-digit lead and never trailing. They controlled the game from start to finish. And they proved the two-game skid was an outlier, not a trend; this Ohio State team can win in March.

ICYMI: Tim May Podcast

Tim May is joined by Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward to talk about a variety of topics related to spring practice, including which players have the most to prove and who they are excited to hear about as the football facility is buzzing with activity to prepare for the next few weeks.

The guys also break down the athletic department and how the Buckeyes maintain their level as one of the top departments in the entire country — in all sports, not just football.

Speaking of all sports, Tim is also joined by Ohio State lacrosse coach Nick Myers for a conversation about the support the program receives from athletic director Gene Smith and the entire athletic department. The Buckeyes lacrosse program is off to a hot start this season. They’re currently 4-0.

Oh, and they’re in the process of getting a new $21.5 million lacrosse-specific stadium on campus. The new stadium will allow the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams to play in their own stadium rather than using Ohio Stadium and the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

That conversations with Tim, Austin and Nick make this edition of The Tim May Podcast a must-listen episode. And it’s not just an Ohio State football discussion this week.
