Buckeyes open as massive favorites to defend B1G crown

Ohio State has won four-straight Big Ten titles.

Oddsmakers don’t believe that streak will end this season. The folks at BetOnline.ag have set the odds to win the Big Ten this upcoming fall, and the Buckeyes are heavily favored to repeat yet again. Their odds currently sit at 2/3 to win the conference crown, likely meaning a return to the College Football Playoff.

Wisconsin has the second-best odds at 8/1 to win the league. The Badgers are followed by Michigan and Penn State, which both sit now with 17/2 odds to win the conference. Iowa rounds out the top five with 11/1 odds to take home a league championship.

Ohio State must find a way to replace 15 players who now are on NFL rosters, including a first-round quarterback, a record-breaking running back, four linebackers and two incredible offensive linemen. But the Buckeyes will reload. And they remain the favorite to win a fifth-straight conference title in December.

Five-star quarterback commit Quinn Ewers joins Birminology

It’s been three years since an Ohio State coach saw Quinn Ewers throw a football in person. That is going to change in June. The 5-star Buckeyes quarterback commit, the country’s No. 1-ranked 2022 prospect, will visit Columbus not once, but twice next month. He’ll first be a part of the huge Buckeyes recruiting weekend on June 4 and then return a week later for another visit.

That’s about as far into the future as the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Ewers wants to look. For, now, with his commitment to the Buckeyes solid, he’s focused on other things. Foremost among them? Returning his Southlake Carroll Dragons teammates to the state title game. The chance to get that bitter taste out of his mouth is what is driving the highest-ranked quarterback prospect since Vince Young.

How is the relationship between Ewers and Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis? Does he like what he sees in the Buckeyes offense after watching in the spring? How close is he with players like 5-star defensive end Omari Abor?

Lettermen Row’s Jeremy Birmingham checked in with Quinn Ewers in Southlake, Texas, following his Monday practice in the latest episode of Birminology from Lettermen Row.
