Ryan Day asks for another hostile Horseshoe against Penn State

Ohio State has one of the best home-field advantages in the country. It was evident when the crowd reached 107 decibels in the fourth quarter against Oregon earlier this season.

The hostile environment is turned up even further for primetime games, especially against one of the Buckeyes rivals, Penn State.

The Buckeyes are expecting the Horseshoe to be rocking Saturday night for the biggest game of the season. Ryan Day is asking for it to be.

“In this game especially, it can bring a huge advantage for us,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “We’re asking, and I’m asking, for Buckeye Nation to be really, really loud when Penn State has the football. I mean really loud so they struggle to communicate. Because when they do, that’s a huge advantage for our defense. …

“The last time Penn State was here, I thought the crowd was unbelievable. If we can replicate that again, that would be huge for us and for the program.”

Buckeyes expecting massive recruiting weekend for primetime showdown

It’s going to be an absolute party in Ohio Stadium on Saturday night.

The Buckeyes are hosting the Penn State Nittany Lions in a primetime game under the lights in the first-ever Scarlet Out in Columbus as Ohio State prepares to don all-scarlet uniforms for the first time.

On the night before Halloween, Ryan Day is hoping his team is ready for any tricks by Penn State. The treats for the Buckeyes may come shortly after, thanks to a huge recruiting weekend that will bring in dozens upon dozens of top Ohio State prospects.

Lettermen Row broke down some of the top visitors expected at the game Thursday. It’s quite the star-studded list of Buckeyes targets.

ICYMI: Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

In the latest episode of Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters, Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by former Buckeyes linebacker Bobby Carpenter, former Ohio State quarterback Justin Zwick, Nicole Cox of Roosters and Lettermen Row director of recruiting Jeremy Birmingham to analyze the win over the Hoosiers.

C.J. Stroud has solidified himself as a college football star, and the first-year starting quarterback has seen his Heisman Trophy odds rise to the third-best number in the country. Stroud’s surge has paved the way for the Buckeyes success behind the best offense in college football.

Next up for Stroud and the Buckeyes is a top-20 battle with Penn State. That matchup lost some luster following the Nittany Lions’ upset loss to Illinois, but it is still a pivotal Big Ten game as Ohio State will square off with a team that has arguably the most talented roster in the conference outside of Columbus.

As always, Lettermen Live is hosted by Roosters on Olentangy River Road in Columbus.
