Madden ratings show talent level of Buckeyes in NFL

Former Ohio State stars are all over the latest Madden NFL video game. And there’s plenty of talent the ex-Buckeyes stars bring to their rosters on the game.

Nick Bosa is the highest-rated former Buckeyes star in the new Madden 23 game. He has a rating of 94, the third-best among all defensive ends. He is one of eight Buckeyes with a rating of at least 90, including Cameron Heyward, Denzel Ward, Joey Bosa, Marshon Lattimore, Corey Linsley, Terry McLaurin and Michael Thomas.

Rookie first-round receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave have ratings of 76 each. Wilson will play for the New York Jets, while Olave will be a rookie receiver for the Saints.

ICYMI: Luke Wypler named to Rimington Trophy watch list

The progress was evident for Luke Wypler last season at Ohio State.

Now in his second season as the Buckeyes starting center, Wypler has a chance to become one of the best at his position in the country. And folks are beginning to notice how good Wypler can be.

Wypler was named to the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given annually to the top center in college football, on Friday morning. He is aiming to become the fourth Buckeyes center to win the award. Previous winners were LeCharles Bentley in 2001, Pat Elflein in 2016 and Billy Price in 2017.

For Wypler, he felt himself growing more comfortable as the year went on last fall. And he expects more of the same this season.

ICYMI: Tim May Podcast

Tim welcomes former Ohio State quarterback Cornelius Green onto the show to talk about his career at Ohio State, how he was able to be the quarterback while Archie Griffin was in the backfield and why the Buckeyes should have won at least one national title with Woody Hayes, Archie Griffin and Cornelius Green.

Cornelius and Tim have a multi-layered conversation about how good Buckeyes football was in the 1970s, life after football and the Buckeyes program moving forward. The stories told are cemented in Ohio State football history, and Green is there to tell many of them.

What was Cornelius Green’s experience like as the first black quarterback to ever start for the Buckeyes? How has he been since his Buckeyes career ended long ago? How much has the game changed, especially as Ohio State becomes a pass-happy offensive juggernaut? And what does he think about the Buckeyes this offseason? All of that is answered in the latest show. Oh, and Tim May made sure to ask him about playing with Archie Griffin and being coached by Woody Hayes.
