Nicholas Petit-Frere, Thayer Munford complete NFL combine drills
The week of festivities at the NFL combine is still going strong for Ohio State.
Former Buckeyes offensive linemen Nicholas Petit-Frere and Thayer Munford both completed their drills and measurements at the combine on Friday, wrapping up their week in Indianapolis with some impressive numbers — and still plenty to prove to teams around the league.
Neither player did the bench press, opting to only do that drill at the Ohio State Pro Day, which is set for March 23. Petit-Frere ran the faster 40-yard dash between the former teammates, clocking in at 5.14 seconds and finishing in the middle of the offensive line pack. Munford also ran the 40-yard dash. He finished with a 5.39-second time.
Both players can certainly improve on those times and continue to get better at all drills ahead of their pro day later this month. But they also impressed this week in Indianapolis during the combine.
Top Buckeyes target locks in visit to Columbus
Ohio State has been recruiting Joenel Aguero as hard as any program in the country for the last three years.
It’s next opportunity to see the four-star prospect from St. John’s Prep (Danvers, Mass.) could be its last before he makes his college decision. The good news for the Buckeyes is that they now know exactly when that will be.
It’s a big visit for Ohio State as it continues to fight for the country’s No. 3-ranked safety. As mentioned, the Buckeyes are one of the long-time suitors for Aguero. That dates back to his freshman season of high school. That was former Ohio State assistant Matt Barnes leading the way for the Buckeyes with Ryan Day playing a role as well. Coaching changes in Columbus mean that Day has had to ramp up his personal efforts to recruit the 5-foot-11, 195-pound defensive back. New safeties coach Perry Eliano has done an admirable job quickly connecting with Joenel Aguero as well.

ICYMI: Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave dazzle with 40-yard-dash times
Don’t expect Garrett Wilson to see his draft stock anytime soon. The combine certainly only continued to help him.
Wilson ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash on Thursday night in Indianapolis at the NFL combine, the eighth-fastest time among all wide receivers who ran. Fellow Buckeyes wide receiver Chris Olave ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash on the official timer after the unofficial clocked him at a blazing 4.26-second time.
Both receivers keep boosting their draft stocks during the week of festivities at the combine, acing the media interviews and meeting with teams from across the league. Both could be first-round picks in April. And just after Olave posted an incredible 40-yard dash, Wilson followed it up by besting him by one one-hundredth of a second.
