Ticket prices for Buckeyes opener against Notre Dame keep climbing

The Ohio State season-opening, primetime matchup against Notre Dame is already being hyped up as one of the biggest games of the year.

And ticket prices for that game just continue to soar. The cheapest ticket on Ticketmaster is currently set at $347, while the most expensive tickets are going for more than $4,000 on the same website, a more expensive ticket than the ticket prices for the rivalry game against Michigan in November.

The Buckeyes and Fighting Irish haven’t played in the regular season since 1996, a Buckeyes win in South Bend. Ohio State hasn’t lost to Notre Dame since 1936.

Want to watch the next matchup? Get the tickets now. They aren’t getting any cheaper to get in the stadium come September.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba named to Biletnikoff Award watch list

Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba doesn’t need to do much to prove he’s the best in the country at his position.

He already did that last season, when he had more than 1,600 yards receiving, including a record-breaking Rose Bowl. But there’s one thing Smith-Njigba didn’t do last season, and it was out of his control.

The third-year receiver wasn’t a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the top pass-catcher in the country, last fall. A certain mistake by the voters, that can be corrected this year if Smith-Njigba has a special encore season like he is expected to have.

Smith-Njigba was named to the Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list Thursday as he aims to become the first Buckeyes receiver since Terry Glenn in 1995 to capture the honor.

Ohio State hoops will play North Carolina

Ohio State is officially heading to New York City as part of its nonconference schedule.

And the trip to the Big Apple will come with a date with college basketball heavyweight North Carolina as part of the CBS Sports Classic.

The Buckeyes and Tar Heels will square off in Madison Square Garden on Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. A game between Kentucky and UCLA will follow, according to a release put out Thursday.

The Tar Heels are a trendy pick already to be the No. 1 team in the country, and they will present a tough early-season challenge for Ohio State.
