Former Buckeyes star among early Pro Bowl selections

Denzel Ward was a lock-down cornerback at Ohio State.

He continues to prove he is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, as well. Ward was selected to his second Pro Bowl on Monday, and his first since his rookie season back in 2018.

He is one of five Browns players to be named to the Pro Bowl roster as part of their early release. Ward has three interceptions on the season, one of which he returned 99 yards for a touchdown. He also has 33 tackles, eight passes deflected and 0.5 sacks on the year, making it one of the best seasons of his young career.

After yet another stellar season, the former Buckeyes star is one of the early selections for the NFL Pro Bowl.

Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

In a matchup against Utah, Ohio State will be tasked with stopping a similar opponent that has a hard-nosed, physical running game as its offensive core.

The Lettermen Row crew returns to break down that matchup and give their thoughts about plenty more in the latest episode of Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters.

That crew is headed by Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward, who is joined by former Ohio State quarterback Justin Zwick, former Buckeyes linebacker Bobby Carpenter and Lettermen Row director of recruiting Jeremy Birmingham.

The guys discuss what Ohio State players such as Steele Chambers, Jack Sawyer and others said about the Michigan loss earlier this week – which includes the Buckeyes response to Desmond Howard during the Heisman Trophy awards ceremony and other trash talk from the Wolverines.

The Lettermen Row crew also analyzes a potential landing spot for Darrion Henry-Young – the latest Ohio State player to enter the transfer portal – as well as give some opinions about the college football landscape as the transfer portal continues to heat up.

Buckeyes reserve DE Darrion Henry-Young enters transfer portal

Darrion Henry-Young has been building toward a break out at Ohio State for two seasons.

The untapped potential will have to be realized somewhere else.

Henry-Young entered the transfer portal Monday morning after two years inside the program. The Ohio native defensive lineman and high school teammate of Buckeyes offensive lineman Paris Johnson Jr. will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Henry-Young appeared sparingly in action for the Rushmen during his career, totaling just one tackle for the Buckeyes across appearances in four games. He now enters the transfer portal as an intriguing option for other schools after two years of learning under defensive line coach Larry Johnson in the Rushmen room.

After two years of development in a uphill battle up the depth chart that continues to add elite talent to stack inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, Henry-Young will try his hand at a different school — with a chance to make an impact as he enters the transfer portal and exits Ohio State.
