Priority cornerback target trims list, includes Ohio State
Ohio State recruits the best defensive backs in the country during every recruiting cycle.
One of the best cornerbacks in the class of 2023 received an Ohio State offer during a visit and workout in June. And over the weekend, Kayin Lee, the country’s No. 9 cornerback in the class of 2023, trimmed his list of schools he’s still considering to 10. Ohio State is one of those top-10 schools.
The Buckeyes are joined by Georgia, Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Central Florida, Arkansas and Indiana in the final 10 schools for Kayin Lee, one of the fastest players in his class.
Lee was certainly impressed by his Buckeyes camp visit last month.
“This is the Ohio State,†he said. “I ain’t gonna lie, this is unreal. I’m still taking it in right now. I took a little tour, saw the facilities and got in a little photo shoot. It’s been a real nice day, and it’s a real nice campus. Ryan Day is a great guy. I love it here. It was all great. Positive energy. I felt good. People around me felt good and felt good about me, and I just love that. They are all amazing people.â€
Ohio State was impressed by Kayin Lee, and he was impressed by the Buckeyes. Now they’re in the top 10 for his commitment.
ICYMI: Hero Kanu becoming must-get recruit for Buckeyes
Hero Kanu, a 6-foot-5, 293-pound former soccer player born in Germany, is different.
His size and speed alone would make him a Division I prospect no matter where he’s from. But his unique work ethic and approach to learning the game of football create something unique. In a whirlwind month of June, Kanu — the No. 13-ranked defensive lineman in the Class of 2022 — visited 16 different colleges. He camped at each one, driven by a desire to compete and to build relationships. His newness to the game means how he’s coached is as important as who is coaching him.At every single camp, Hero Kanu has impressed. He’s well-ahead of the curve considering his inexperience. He listens, he learns and he quickly applies what he’s taught.
That makes him the perfect kind of defensive tackle for Larry Johnson and Ohio State. Kanu has almost unlimited upside, and that’s why Johnson has made him a priority, especially in the last month.
And Ohio State likes a lot about Hero Kanu as well.Crazy upside, rare athleticism and a thirst to get better every day make him a truly rare 2022 prospect. That’s why he’s the latest addition to The List from Lettermen Row. Jeremy Birmingham and Spencer Holbrook break down this recruitment and what makes him so important for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.

Three veteran Buckeyes will be at Big Ten Media Days
Ohio State needs new leaders on the roster this fall.
Three of those top leaders will speak publicly this week for the first time since the spring.
Ohio State and the Big Ten announced who will be in attendance for the annual Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis, held July 22 and 23. Along with coach Ryan Day, the Buckeyes will send junior defensive end Zach Harrison, senior left tackle Thayer Munford and senior wide receiver Chris Olave as representatives of the football team, showing they are all three in line for leadership roles inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
All three will be leaders in the Ohio State locker room this fall, leading the Buckeyes into another season as Big Ten favorites.
All three will represent the football program at media day later this week.
