Priority cornerback target begins unofficial visit with Buckeyes

Ohio State just wrapped up a huge recruiting weekend that features some of the top players in the 2023 class on campus. The big-time visitors list isn’t slowing down this week, either.

Kayin Lee, the No. 17 cornerback and 152 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, will be at Ohio State on Wednesday for a key visit. The former Georgia commit has been high on the Buckeyes since decommitting from the Bulldogs, and the Buckeyes are certainly trying to position themselves well in his recruitment. Lee camped in Columbus last June and impressed.

Ohio State recently added Lee’s former high school coach at Cedar Grove, Miguel Patrick, as an analyst. That connection could be a factor down the road for Lee’s decision.

So will this week, as Kayin Lee begins an important visit to Ohio State.

New Tim May Podcast

Tim is joined by former Ohio State wide receiver Parris Campbell, who was also in attendance, for a conversation about his NFL career, the injuries he has sustained, how he can come back from them and just how good the Buckeyes receivers can be this year after an incredible campaign last season. The chat with Campbell is a must-see for Buckeyes fans.

Campbell wasn’t the only guest on the show. Lettermen Row staff writer Spencer Holbrook was in attendance at the open practice, so he had to join Tim to break down just how good the Ohio State offense can be. The guys break down the receiver room, the progression of C.J. Stroud as an elite quarterback, just how good this edition of the Ohio State offense can be this fall and who a breakout star is that seems to be coming on at just the right time in the spring.

That conversations with Tim, Spencer and the former Buckeyes speedster Parris Campbell, make this edition of The Tim May Podcast a must-listen episode. And it’s not just an Ohio State football discussion this week. It’s a college football conversation and so much more.

Buckeyes standing out to five-star wide receiver target

The Buckeyes have been recruiting 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver Carnell Tate nonstop since last spring. The country’s No. 3-ranked wideout has been to Ohio State for camps, for game visits, during the slow off-season and following last weekend’s trip to Columbus, for spring practice. He’s seen everything the Buckeyes have to offer.

And that’s why sometimes, for Carnell Tate, it doesn’t feel like he’s even being recruited by Ohio State anymore. The messaging has changed. There’s no more sales pitch from Ryan Day and Brian Hartline or the rest of the Buckeyes staff.

For the Chicago native, this latest trip gave him his first real up-close-and-personal look at how Hartline works.

Lettermen Row’s Birm caught up with Tate after his visit to Columbus over the weekend. And he had to bring the update that Tate is loving what he is hearing from Brian Hartline, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.
