Scarlet Sunrise: Ohio State parents schedule second Big Ten protest

Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise. Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.
Ohio State parents schedule second Big Ten protest
Ohio State parents are still demanding answers from the university president and Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren. They want to know why football season was canceled when it was canceled, and how the decision-making process worked.
After a day of protesting at Big Ten headquarters in Rosemont, Illinois, over the weekend, the parents at Ohio State aren’t done demanding more transparency. So they have decided to stage a second protest outside Ohio Stadium this upcoming Saturday.
The protests come after weeks of asking for any information about the cancelation, but mostly silence from the presidents and commissioner.
“The thing about it is the kids made a lot of sacrifices since COVID started, from being home at home and the challenges there all the way back to the things they had to do their whole life working for this moment,†Randy Wade, the father of likely first-round NFL Draft pick Shaun Wade, said last week to Lettermen Row’s Austin Ward. “So, to take it away over one weekend, we feel like it’s not right. We feel like they needed to slow things down, rethink and still give these kids a chance to live out their dream.”
Now with another weekend gone with few answers, the parents are ready to continue their fight. And they are calling on fans, Ohio State alumni and fellow Big Ten parents to join them. They didn’t have much success getting answers at Big Ten headquarters. Maybe the protest at the Horseshoe will be different.
Buckeyes finding 2022 quarterback targets
Ohio State saw its 2022 quarterback board shrink by one when the country’s top-ranked rising-junior quarterback, Quinn Ewers, chose Texas over seemingly every program in the country.
Ewers was the top target on the board at quarterback for the Buckeyes, but now they must get back to work and reshuffle their list of potential signal-callers for the class. Lettermen Row’s Birm has more:

Until recruiting visits are back on the table, there’s not going to be a lot of movement on the evaluation front for Ohio State. But for now, if anyone out there is keeping a personal big board of the Buckeyes top targets, it’s fairly safe to elevate Maalik Murphy from No. 1B to the top spot alone.

ICYMI: Five things we’ll miss about Ohio State football this fall
For the first time since 1889, the Buckeyes won’t be lining up with a shot at a national title. They won’t be playing in front of screaming fans. They’ll have to wait until at least the spring to do that. After an offseason of hard work and preparation, that’s not an easy pill to swallow.
Saturdays in the fall are certainly going to be different. From the singing of Carmen Ohio to roadtrips across Big Ten country and everything in between, Lettermen Row broke down the five things about the Big Ten and Buckeyes football we’ll miss the most as the league shifts its attention to attempting a spring schedule.
