Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise. Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Preseason award buzz grows for Ohio State commits

Kaleb Brown and Kojo Antwi, two of the Buckeyes four wide receiver commits in the class of 2022, are special players.

Buzz is already growing for their senior seasons before they enroll at Ohio State. Brown and Antwi were both listed on Sports Illustrated All-American preseason watch list as potential All-Americans in the slot receiver position.

Antwi, a Georgia native, and Brown, a Chicago native, are both top-125 prospects in the country and make up the best wide receiver group in the 2022 class. They’ll sign with the Buckeyes as part of the now-No. 1 class in America.

And they have made the list of potential All-Americans at slot receiver.

Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

Big Ten Media Days is nearly here, meaning the Ohio State football season is inching closer and closer. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, defensive end Zach Harrison, left tackle Thayer Munford and wide receiver Chris Olave will head to Indianapolis later this week and represent the Buckeyes.

The Lettermen Row crew is back at Roosters to break down what to expect ahead of the conference’s media days.

Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward is joined by Lettermen Row Director of Recruiting Jeremy Birmingham, former Ohio State quarterback Justin Zwick and former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter to talk about Big Ten Media Day and more from the world of Buckeyes athletics.

What is the latest on the battle for the starting quarterback job? Can the secondary rebound from a disappointing performance in the national championship game? And how will the reloaded linebackers room look come the season opener?

Those are just some of the questions headed into Big Ten Media Day. Don’t miss this loaded episode, and don’t forget to grab the $2 appetizers from Roosters every Tuesday at all Roosters locations.

Priority Buckeyes target Hero Kanu joins Birminology

It’s rare for any player to make the kind of impression that Hero Kanu did on his Ohio State visit in June. It’s rarer still for a defensive tackle to impress Johnson the way Kanu did. The 4-star prospect, born in Bavaria, has only played American football for two-plus years but his combination of size, speed and energy made him an absolute standout. The way he dominated, while learning on the fly, was memorable.

And learning from Larry Johnson was memorable for Hero Kanu. That’s why he decided to stick around for a second day of camp with the Buckeyes though he was just scheduled for one.

Since that trip, the conversation between Ohio State and Hero Kanu has increased, exponentially. That’s another surefire sign of the rising importance he has in the Buckeyes top-ranked 2022 recruiting class. As the Buckeyes look for a handful of defensive linemen in this cycle, Kanu has risen from relative unknown to near must-get for Larry Johnson.

How did June shape Kanu’s recruitment? Why was Ohio State one of the first official visits he scheduled? What has life in America been like after moving from Germany? He joined Birminology on Lettermen Row to talk about that stuff and much more. Check it out at the link below.
