Scarlet Sunrise: On3 lists two Ohio State assistants among top recruiters for the 2025 class

COLUMBUS – Ohio State recruits as well as any program in college football. The Buckeyes signed a fifth consecutive top-five recruiting class in the 2025 cycle.
The tradition at Ohio State along with the track record of developing prospects for the NFL and, of course, the opportunity to compete for National Championships is what draws many prospects to Columbus. The Buckeyes also have several highly-regarded recruiters on their coaching staff.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong released his list of the top college football recruiters from the 2025 cycle which included two Ohio State assistants: offensive coordinator Brian Hartline and secondary coach Tim Walton.
Here’s what Wiltfong said about each of those two Buckeye assistants — and why each of them made the list:
Tim Walton
The Buckeyes secondary coach loves recruiting for his alma-mater. He knows all the history and traditions of the place, the go-to spots on campus, and the ins and outs of the city of Columbus.
It doesn’t hurt he has 25 years of coaching experience with a lot of it coming in the NFL.
One of the crown jewels of Ohio State’s class was the On3 Industry’s top-ranked, five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez. He committed to the Buckeyes over the likes of Texas, LSU and Alabama in Jan. of 2024 and never wavered.
“Man, to be perfectly honest, Tim Walton,” Sanchez’s father Daniel said during the process. “He’s talking the stuff we want to hear. Development is the No. 1 focus. What’s going on there. We’re 100 percent bought into that as far as far as what Tim Walton is talking about.”
Top100 safety Faheem Delane was another big pull, as the Maryland product chose OSU over Oregon, LSU and others. Walton was involved there as well as with cornerback Jordyn Woods and safeties DeShawn Stewart and Cody Haddad.

Brian Hartline
You can’t do a top recruiters list without having the Buckeyes offensive coordinator/receivers coach on it.
Another Buckeyes alum, Hartline’s ability to build meaningful relationships and trust with top targets is second to none. His track record of preparing his guys for the NFL, not only to be drafted high but be difference-makers on Sunday make Ohio State such an attractive option to the top receivers year in and year out.
Five-star receiver and New Jersey’s top recruit Quincy Porter was the crown jewel of his haul in 2025. Porter picked the Buckeyes over Michigan and then saw a late run come from Penn State and Florida. He hardly wavered.
Three other receiver coming to Ohio State from this class are four-star Phillip Bell from out West, De’zie Jones from New Jersey and Bodpegn Miller from in-state who Hartline offered after having in camp. Miller finished as an On300 recruit.
