Lettermen Row breaks down where the top Ohio State targets landed in updated 2026 On3 150 ranking.

Anthony Thompson

Four-star Hudson (Ohio) Western Reserve Academy small forward Anthony Thompson is the highest-ranked Ohio State target in the updated 2026 On3 150 rankings. Thompson, a Lebanon, Ohio native, slots in as the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 3 small forward in 2026 class, according to On3.

The Buckeyes hosted the 6-foot-8 Thompson for one of their preseason practices in October. He hears from head coach Jake Diebler and multiple Ohio State assistants often. He is also considering Indiana, Kentucky and several others.

Thompson will play with Indiana Elite on the Adidas 3SSB circuit this offseason.

Marcus Johnson

The next highest-ranked Buckeye target in the updated 2026 On3 150 rankings is Four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Garfield Heights point guard and Ohio State commit Marcus Johnson. On3 ranks the 6-foot-1 Johnson as the No. 71 overall prospect and No. 8 point guard in the 2026 class.

Johnson was recently named the 2025 Ohio Mr. Basketball. He averaged 29.7 points per game, along with 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.2 steals as a junior.

Johnson will play with Indy Heat on the Nike EYBL circuit this offseason.

Cole Cloer

Ohio State hosted four-star Hillsborough (N.C.) Caldwell Academy small forward Cole Cloer for an official visit last fall. Cloer is the No. 73 overall prospect and No. 22 small forward in the updated 2026 On3 150 rankings.

The 6-foot-8 Cloer helped led Caldwell Academy to a NCISAA 2A State Championship as a junior. Cloer is a top target for Ohio State associate head coach Joel Justus who is from North Carolina. Justus also recruited Cloer at North Carolina State prior to arriving in Columbus.

Cloer will play with Team CP3 on the Nike EYBL circuit this offseason.

Jonathan Sanderson

Four-star Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth point guard Jonathan Sanderson is an Ohio State legacy. Sanderson is the son of former Ohio State basketball player and current Vanderbilt strength & conditioning coach Jon Sanderson. The younger Sanderson slots in as the No. 75 overall prospect and No. 9 point guard in the updated 2026 On3 150 rankings.

The Buckeyes got Sanderson on campus for an official visit last September. Jake Diebler has taken the lead in this recruitment as the Buckeyes head coach tries to land another talented point guard.

Sanderson will play with Hoop City Basketball Club in the P32 League this offseason.

Jayden Hodge

Four-star Belmar (N.J.) St. Rose shooting guard Jayden Hodge is the biggest unknown of all the Ohio State targets in the updated 2026 On3 150 rankings. The Buckeyes offered the 6-foot guard last summer but he has yet make the trip to Columbus.

Regardless, Hodge ranks as the No. 83 overall prospect and No. 19 shooting guard in the 2026 class, according to On3. Ohio State is working to get Hodge on campus this offseason as they attempt to land the talented guard out of the Garden State by way of Belgium.

Hodge will play with NJ ShoreShots Boys on the UAA circuit this offseason.

Gan-Erdene Solongo

The Buckeyes did not sign a pure center prospect in the 2025 class which makes a prospect like four-star Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth center Gan-Erdene Solongo all the more important. Solongo is the No. 98 overall prospect and No. 14 center in the updated 2026 On3 150 rankings.

The 7-foot, 275 pounds Solongo is the adoptive brother of the aforementioned Jonathan Sanderson. He also visited Ohio State in September. Assitant coach Luke Simons has been steadily building a relationship with Solongo ever since.

Solongo will play with Hoop City Basketball Club in the P32 League this offseason.

Tristan Reed

Four-star St. Louis (Mo.) John Burroughs School power forward Tristan Reed another top target for Ohio State in the front court. In the updated 2026 On3 150 rankings, Reed ranks as the No. 109 overall prospect and No. 18 power forward.

The 6-foot-9 Reed was in Columbus on Dec. 29 for the Buckeyes win over Indiana State. Reed also visited Ohio State for a football game las season. Additionally, Reed is the former AAU teammate of Ohio State signee A’Mare Bynum.
