COLUMBUS — Ohio State and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline has signed another one of the best pass catchers in the country in the 2025 class. Four-star WR De’zie Jones has signed his Letter of Intent to Ohio State and is officially a Buckeye.
What does it mean for the Buckeyes? Let’s check it out.
Who is De’zie Jones?
De’zie Jones is a four-star wide receiver from Wayne, New Jersey. He attended DePaul Catholic High School. He committed to the Buckeyes on March 30, 2024 over scholarship offers from Kentucky, Penn State and South Carolina. Jones committed to Ohio State the same day as his high school teammate and Buckeyes safety signee DeShawn Stewart.

De’zie Jones is not the fastest or most athletic wide receiver that Ohio State has signed in recent cycles. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Jones has been one of the most productive at the high school level, however. As a senior, Jones had 64 receptions for 1,069 yards and 15 touchdowns in 12 games. Jones consistently gets open and puts up impressive numbers from the slot.
Jones is one of four wide receivers for the Buckeyes and Brian Hartline in the 2025 class. He joins Quincy Porter, Phillip Bell and Bodpegn Miller in Ohio State’s wide receiver haul.
How did Jones end up at Ohio State?
Ohio State and Brian Hartline recruit some of the top wide receiver prospects in the country so it is difficult to get a feel for who is near the top of the list for the Buckeyes. De’Zie Jones was always one of those guys, however.

Jones’ belief in Brian Hartline being one of the best wide receiver coaches in the country is what ultimately led to him becoming a Buckeye.
“What stands out to me is how much they develop their receivers and it proves over the years,” Jones told On3. “ They produce the best and I want to be next up, so learning from nice players will get me better. Also, they produce tons of DB talent, so going up against them every day will get me better. The culture over there is beautiful, can’t ask for better.”
Jones will be an early enrollee and on campus in January to take part in spring practices at Ohio State.
