Signed: In-state offensive lineman Jake Cook hopes to become Buckeyes next stud center
The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2025 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Jake Cook has signed with the Buckeyes.
COLUMBUS — Ohio State has a nasty in-state offensive lineman and potentially its center of the future in the 2025 class. Three-star IOL Jake Cook has signed his Letter of Intent to Ohio State and is officially a Buckeye.
What does it mean for the Buckeyes? Let’s check it out.
Who is Jake Cook?
Jake Cook is a three-star offensive lineman from Westerville, Ohio. He attended Westerville North High School. He committed to Ohio State on June 23, 2024 less than a week after decommitting from Louisville. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Cook is another summer camp success story for Ohio State.
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 551 overall, No. 48 IOL, No. 21 in Ohio
On3 Ranking: No. 99 IOL and No. 65 in Ohio
Hometown: Westerville, Ohio
High School: Westerville North
Jake Cook is a nasty, hard-working center prospect that has the potential to be an impact player at center for Ohio State. He was a multi-year starter at left tackle for Westerville North but the Buckeyes are bringing Cook in to be their center of the future. Cook has plus length for the center position and moves his feet well for a prospect that is just about 300 pounds. He will need time to develop but he has the tools to play at Ohio State.
Cook is one of three offensive line commitments for the Buckeyes this cycle. The Buckeyes have a solid offensive line haul between Cook, Carter Lowe and Jayvon McFadden.
How did Cook end up at Ohio State?
As we wrote above, Cook is another summer camp success story for Ohio State. He camped in Columbus every summer for the past four years and ultimately earned an offer from the Buckeyes.

Cook camped at Ohio State on June 5 and impressed the coaching staff but did not earn an offer that day. Offensive line coach Justin Frye asked him to come back a week later to work on his snapping and center technique. He once again left Columbus without a scholarship offer.
One day later Ryan Day called and offered Cook a scholarship. He scheduled an official visit to Ohio State for the following weekend and committed before leaving the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Cook hopes to become the Buckeyes next great center.
“Centers like Josh Meyers, Billy Price and Pat Elflein,” Cook told Lettermen Row. “It’s just a great opportunity to go there and then obviously, compete against the best every day, get coached by the best every day. So the development aspect is super big as well.”
Cook will be an early enrollee and on campus in January to take part in spring practices at Ohio State.
