The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2025 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Cody Haddad  has signed with the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has added another talented in-state defensive back to the Buckeyes secondary. Three-star safety Cody Haddad has signed his Letter of Intent to Ohio State and is officially a Buckeye.

What does it mean for the Buckeyes? Let’s check it out.

Who is Cody Haddad?

Cody Haddad is a three-star safety from Cleveland, Ohio. He attended St. Ignatius High School. He committed to the Buckeyes on April 13, 2024 less than two weeks after backing off his commitment to Wisconsin. Haddad also had offers from Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Texas A&M.

On3 Industry Rankings: No. 511 overall, No. 45 safety, No. 18 in Ohio

On3 Ranking: No. 73 safety and No. 38 in Ohio

Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio

High School: St. Ignatius

Cody Haddad is an uber-athletic safety prospect that has struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons. The 6-foot, 170-pound Haddad missed most of his junior season with an injury and a chunk of his senior season with a different injury. When Haddad has been on the field, however, he has been an impact player for St. Ignatius.

Haddad is one of three safeties for the Buckeyes in the 2025 cycle. He pairs with Faheem Delane and DeShawn Stewart in Ohio State’s class.

How did Haddad end up at Ohio State?

Cody Haddad committed to Wisconsin on Jan. 17 and locked in with the Badgers, but three days later Ohio State offered him a scholarship. Shortly after the Buckeyes extended the offer, Haddad visited Columbus and flipped his commitment a few months later on April 13. He committed before kickoff of the Ohio State spring game.

“Coach Matt Guerrieri loved my film,” Haddad told Lettermen Row in February. “Me and him have a really good relationship. I went on my unofficial visit there in January and talked with him and head coach Ryan Day, and had a really good time down there.

“They offered me there and for me, it was kind of a shock. I was like ‘Wow I’ve been here two times and didn’t get shown any love the first two visits’ and then Coach G came in and kind of opened the eyes of the other coaches. Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles loved my film and came to the school before that visit in January.”

Haddad will be an early enrollee and on campus in January. He is actually the first student to graduate early from Cleveland St. Ignatius.
