The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2025 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Faheem Delane has signed with the Buckeyes.
COLUMBUS — After missing out on top targets at the safety position in previous recruiting classes, the Buckeyes landed their top guy in the 2025 class. Four-star safety Faheem Delane has signed his Letter of Intent to Ohio State and is officially a Buckeye.
What does it mean for the Buckeyes? Let’s check it out.
Who is Faheem Delane?
Faheem Delane is a four-star safety from Olney, Maryland. He attended Good Counsel High School. He committed to the Buckeyes on June 9, 2024 over LSU, Oregon, Virginia Tech and several other Power Four programs. Adding a talent like Delane to the Buckeyes secondary is exactly what safeties coach Matt Guerrieri needed to do in the 2025 class.

Hometown: Olney, Maryland

Faheem Delane has proved himself to be one of the top safeties in the 2025 class. He was a multi-year starter in the secondary for Good Counsel and was named the WCAC defensive player of the year as a senior. Delane had 97 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and three interceptions in 12 games this season.
Delane is one of three safety commitments for Guerrieri and Ohio State in the 2025 class. The Buckeyes have one of the best safeties classes in the country between Delane, DeShawn Stewart and Cody Haddad.
How did Delane end up at Ohio State?
Delane has been an Ohio State target for over two years. The Buckeyes offered the Maryland native on May 16 of 2022 while Perry Eliano was still the safeties coach in Columbus. The Buckeyes continued to prioritize the 6-foot-1.5, 210-pound Delane after they let Eliano go following the 2023 season.

Delane was one of the first prospects that Guerrieri reached out to after returning to Ohio State in January. He then made the trip to Columbus in March for a spring visit then returned to campus for an official visit in June, which is when he decided to commit to the Buckeyes.
“Obviously the fact of the room itself, Delane’s father Jafau said following his son’s commitment. “Caleb Downs, we love the fact that a lot of seniors are coming back or guys that could’ve left chose to come back. Instantly for a father, I know football, coached football, leadership is going to be huge for him. Being an early-enrollee he can tap in for the semifinals and possibly the championship game with all the leadership.”
“For me that was a separator. Get developed, a lot of the development really happens with the players and mentality. Out of all the other schools, I felt they had the best room, the best locker room.”
