COLUMBUS — Ohio State needed to add talent to the tight end room in the 2025 class and that’s exactly what tight ends coach Keenan Bailey did this cycle. Four-star TE Nate Roberts has signed his Letter of Intent to Ohio State and is officially a Buckeye.
What does it mean for the Buckeyes? Let’s check it out.
Who is Nate Roberts?
Nate Roberts is a four-star tight end from Washington, Oklahoma. He attended Washington High School. He committed to the Buckeyes on April 13, 2024 over Oregon, Oklahoma and Penn State. Roberts committed to the Buckeyes before kickoff of the 2024 spring game which marked the second straight recruiting class that Keenan Bailey landed a commitment the day of the spring game.
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 181 overall, No. 10 tight end, No. 4 in Oklahoma
On3 Ranking: No. 186 overall, No. 12 tight end, No. 4 in Oklahoma
Hometown: Washington, Oklahoma
High School: Washington
Nate Roberts has the potential to play early at Ohio State, particularly in the passing game. Roberts primarily lined up at slot receiver throughout his high school career and put up some eye-catching statistics for a tight end. He led his team in receiving touchdowns and was tied for the team in receptions as a senior at Washington. Ohio State will return some experienced tight ends next season but Roberts is someone that could make an impact early in his college career.
Roberts is one of two tight end commitments for Ohio State in the 2025 class. Keenan Bailey has Roberts and Brody Lennon coming in this cycle.
How did Roberts end up at Ohio State?
Ohio State and Keenan Bailey offered Roberts in May of 2023. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Roberts made an early commitment to Notre Dame in June of 2023 but the Buckeyes never stopped recruiting him. Roberts eventually decommitted from the Irish in August of 2023 and from their Ohio State was all in landing the Oklahoma native.

Keenan Bailey visited Roberts at Washington during almost every opportunity he could. The two developed a close relationship and that ultimately led to Roberts becoming a Buckeye.
“Coach Bailey is what I want in a coach,” Roberts told On3. “We bonded together so easily, he is easy to talk to and I like how he coaches and the energy he has.
“I want to play for that younger coach with the energy and knowledge. Coach Bailey moves with his players and shows them what he wants. He can coach tight ends, he can develop his players, Ohio State uses the tight end and I can become one of those tight ends for the draft one day.”
Roberts will be an early enrollee and on campus in January to partake in spring practice at Ohio State.
