Who is Isaiah West?
Isaiah West is a three-star running back from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended St. Joseph’s Prep High School. He committed to the Buckeyes on June 16, 2024 following his official visit to Columbus. West committed to Kentucky on March 1 but backed off his commitment to the Wildcats on May 13 after being offered by the Buckeyes.

Isaiah West is a true three-phrase running back that can be a offensive chess piece at Ohio State. He was a multi-year starter at running back for St. Joseph’s Prep and he did it all for the Eagles. West is a tough, patient runner with soft hands in the pass game. He is also not afraid to step up and block a blitzing linebacker in pass protection.
West is one of two running backs commitments for Ohio State in the 2025 cycle. The Buckeyes have Bo Jackson in the fold to go along with West.
How did West end up at Ohio State?
All of the credit for Ohio State landing West goes to first-year running backs coach Carlos Locklyn who had been recruiting and building a relationship with West for months. Locklyn immediately targeted the 5-foot-11, 220-pound West after joining the Buckeyes coaching staff.

He visited West at St. Joseph’s Prep in May which is when he offered him a scholarship. Shortly after receiving an offer from the Buckeyes, West backed off his commitment to Kentucky and committed to Ohio State during his official visit in June.
“It was a no-brainer for me,” West told On3. “I got there on the visit, I loved the vibe and I saw a true brotherhood. We hung out, I spent time with the coaches and at dinner that night, I told them I was ready to commit. It is a pretty easy decision.”
West will be an early enrollee and on campus in January to take part in spring practices at Ohio State.
