A win would move Scarlet and Gray one step closer to The Basketball Tournament’s winner-take-all $2 million prize. Beating Primetime Players would put the Ohio State alums in the quarterfinals, just three wins away from taking the championship.

Will Jared Sullinger play for Scarlet and Gray?

Although Jared Sullinger and Scoonie Penn tried to play coy last weekend, Sullinger will indeed miss this weekend’s games due to his wedding. It’s unclear on whether or not Sullinger would return for the Final Four if the team makes it to that point.

Why isn’t B.J. Mullens playing anymore?

After starring in the opener, B.J. Mullens sat out the second game of The Basketball Tournament for personal reasons. He announced Thursday that he won’t be back because of a dispute regarding the fact that he’d receiver a smaller share of the $2 million prize than his teammates.

Here’s what Mullens posted on his Instagram account:

“I was thrilled to be able to take part in this year’s TBT event with my fellow members of our OSU basketball brotherhood. It was very disappointing to not have been able to take part in this event last year due to an injury. As previously indicated, I was not made aware of the distorted financial split with my fellow teammates until one day prior. The reasoning for this was due to my non participation last year due to the injury. Something that was completely out of my control. I turned down other opportunities this year just to be part of this event and to represent Scarlet and Gray again.

“I feel that I am bringing just as much to the table for this team , and our fans as any of the other members. Yet I have been made to feel that my value is somewhat less? We are a team and should be treated as such. I cannot continue, in good faith , to finish the tournament for considerably less then my counter parts and jeopardize a possible injury. It is unfortunate that we couldn’t all agree to an even split between everyone across the board. Thank you for the opportunity to play in front of our fans again. It felt like being home and a sense of family. Best of luck in the remainder of the tournament!”

Greg Oden returns for Ohio State alums

The good news for Scarlet and Gray is that they’ll gain the services of former No. 1 overall NBA Draft pick Greg Oden, who missed the first two rounds because he was out of town.

Prior to the start of the tournament, Oden told reporters that he was expecting to play in round three and beyond and could contribute around 10-15 minutes per game.

“I feel good. I’ve lost a little bit of weight. I’ve been playing here and there. I think I can give them a good seven and a half minutes a half,” he said with a laugh. “I just wanted to play and run up and down a little bit. I’ve been scrimmaging against the guys and got a couple dunks in. They’ve asked me all these years and I kind of just gave in and said I guess I can do a little something.”
