TreVeyon Henderson: 5-star running back commits to Ohio State
Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players themselves. Birminology shows who the young men being recruited by Ohio State truly are — by talking to them. Today, 5-star running back TreVeyon Henderson joins the show for the second time in three weeks, this time to announce his college decision.
Committing to any school this early wasn’t what TreVeyon Henderson thought he’d be doing.
No, the country’s second-ranked running back prospect according the 247Sports.com composite rankings imagined he’d be taking a couple of visits around the nation before making a college choice a few months down the road.
But things change. Plans change.
For the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Henderson, what changed the most was his own thinking. If Ohio State has everything he wants when it comes to academics, football and relationships with the coaching staff, there was no sense in waiting to make a choice and risk losing out on the opportunity to suit up for the Buckeyes, a program he grew up considering a dream school for him.
So now, Henderson has committed to Ohio State, pledging to be the second running back in the country’s top-ranked recruiting class and providing an incredible recruiting victory for Ryan Day and Tony Alford over Michigan, Oklahoma, Virginia, Georgia and nearly every other major program in the country.

Was there recruiting pressure being applied to Henderson? He told Lettermen Row there wasn’t, at least not by Ohio State. Instead, it was put on by other programs who’d caught wind of his imminent decision and tried to convince him he wasn’t thinking his choice through by committing without visiting the school in Columbus.
For Henderson, though, in the end the choice wasn’t hard.
Why did TreVeyon Henderson commit to Ohio State now? What makes his relationship with Tony Alford, Ryan Day and Al Washington special? What does he intend to do now that he’s committed to the Buckeyes? Find out those answers and more in the latest edition of Birminology on Lettermen Row.
